TALK TALK/BT BROADBAND - mac code/marker on line - please help!!

please please can anyone help me.

ok 2 months ago i moved into a new flat , talk talk was the telephone service provider so i called them and resumed the line.
i have since tried to get broadband from them and have since found out someone had previously had bt broadband and i would need to get a mac code or the line cleared from bt.

so i called bt and asked for the above and was told they cannot give me a mac code as i was not the account holder of the bt line/broadband before talk talk took over the line.
the also told me they cant just clear the line of the marker (which belongs to bt??)
so i called talk talk and they told me there is nothing they can do to clear the line as it is bt`s marker.

so i asked talk talk if they can just start a new line for me that was clear? but they said they cant , i would have to start phone service with bt then switch to them.

please can anyone help me with this,its been 2 months now and i am so frustrated , and dont know what else i can do.

And 3 DONT SIGN UP TO TALK TALK FOR BROADBAND! they are in the bottom 5 in UK, even on a 8 meg service you would be lucky to get 0.5 meg, and when you leave, 1 year later you will get monthly bills and debt collector letters as they claim you havent left.

And whats with username, you from Hawick?

thanks ill try that. i will look into another provider for the broadband if thats the case. i only took the talk talk as it was the provider here already.

yes im from hawick .. well new to hawick ..

ring 0800 169 95 they will take the tag off ..... but it will take a week to do .

will they still remove the tag from the line even if i wasnt the one that had the broadband on the line? bt keep saying they cant do anything as i wasnt the account holder. but i dont know who was ....

is that the number for bt wholesale?

have you switched the bt line to your name? if so it will normally cease the adsl signal within 2wks, also you could ask for a new number which will trigger a adsl cease. i worked on adsl provisioning at a large supplier.

plus bt wholesale will normally only speak to other adsl providers, unless you get through to someone nice (unlikely)

just re-read the original post and if you resumed the line from talk talk they probably still leasing the line from bt in the last occupants name and just changed their own records to your name. so theres another 2 options call bt and tell them you have just moved in, they may want proof, but they should cancell the line and re-instate it in your name

the line had already previously been switched to talk talk but not the broadband for some reason.

i just took over the line with talk talk.

p.s ,, i asked talk talk for a new number but they said they couldnt change numbers. the line and number was previously bt`s and switched to them

you need to call bt residential and explain the situ, u will probably need to cancel the talk talk then call bt back to change the details they have for the your number, then a adsl cease will be automatic but your going to be waiting for around 3-4wks

Best is BT Wholesale as posted, or get a new phone line in house, that way it might be quicker.

BTW I was born in Hawick and lived there for a few years, before being brought up in Dumfries.
