TalkTalk Fibre Optic broad band - Is it any good?

I am looking to get fibre optic BroadBand installed very soon and was unsure who to go with - My options are; EE, SKY, BT or TalkTalk -

TalkTalk are currently the cheapest but I have heard some nightmare stories about their customer support and internet quality.

What are they like?

talktalk are awful

Horrible company from my experience - try plus net (bt owned) good prices and better customer service.

In fact, I hope you haven't put your details onto their website, as you will start to get pestering phone calls for ever - I had to email their CEO to get them to stop calling.

I have talk talk fibre. Service has been good. They charge tenner for service. Managed to get few months free line rental and call plan for issues when normal internet was no longer working.

Which suggest very poor customer service levels of only 40% and suggest to avoid, 1 star awarded. Very generous IMHO. Cheap for a reason.

I think a lot of people who say talktalk are rubbish have never been with them...

Try ringing their help line if you need proof of how bad they are.(_;)

I've been with talktalk since 2005 and upgraded to fibre under 12 months ago. If you can afford it go elsewhere.
I've had nothing but trouble with them but being a single Mum on benefits can't afford BT.
I went from upto 2 meg previously which was a nightmare to 28 meg with fibre. Yet I still encounter lots of problems with lost connection and once it happened for two weeks. Customer services is a complete joke. The only way I've found to speak to someone in England is to be put through to disconnections team. Who seem to understand the problems and will add upto £20 credit to your account as a good will gesture.
I just really hate it though when I do have to speak to them as it causes my brain to malfunction. You can expect to be on the phone with them for more than 1 hour and the longest being nearly 3 hours to sort out problems. PLEASE avoid like the plague unless you can't afford another provider

Pretty much all personal testimonies you will read online for any provider with be slanderous, so don't go off this alone. Talk to people you know who are with talk talk - sure you get the indian call centre people, but they're generally much better these days, plus they actually have some bog standard manners unlike the terrible etiquette in our own country.

I was getting 3.5 - 4.5 download speed previously and now it has jumped to ****in 20 - 25 !!! Just amazing and its the cheapest you can get I think. Also, they dont use any talktalk hardware as they install two instead of one boxes which are from BT Openreach. So peeps suggesting that BT lines are any better than talktalk is nonsense because its the same thing just a different price.

I have been with TT for a while my internet has been very slow so I called them and updated to fiber... I have to admit even tho internet speeds were slow, I haven't had any major issue with the isp or customer support...
I have not got fiber YET but will update with results...

Personally I don't see any problem with TT, and very affordable,
But every one has there own opinion!

Virginmedia in terms of the physical service that you get is very good and reliable.

The organisation as a whole though is dire and I switched from then to TalkTalk, where I have no complaints about the service or the customer support, which for me is far better than Virgin.

Virgin are often more expensive for what you pay for.

Have you tried the online talktalk members forums? Was searching and came across that, as customers were saying that the telephone support is useless, but forum is better

Yeah, Virgin are currently upgrading the top tier (100mb) to 120mb. Mines just been done. It's actually faster than they quote as you can see.

Ive been with talktalk since onetell and have recently orderd fibre, talktalk are the cheapest and I have to admit their customer service is terible but when you adventually get our point across its worth it, why pay more for the same thing, ring bt customer service its the same so don't think your getting anything better because its the same! Same internet same broadband same type of customer service so who cares about customer services when your paying less than anyone else with another provider because its the same!

Had it for 6 months.on 17/07/13 woke up and no fibre.spoke to TT on a daily basis.well tried to talk to India who can't speak English.BT and talktalk engineers say it is a authentication issue.TT India just say its not and that both sets of engineers are incompetent.they then close off issue saying it has been resolved.meaning you have to start all over again.
I'm switching to plus net as they are cheaper and apparently have the best customer service.
TALKTALK HAVE NO CUSTOMER SERVICE
