Found 8th Oct 2009
So i finally plucked up the courage to go through with getting a tattoo and now i'm in agony.
got it yesterday on my foot and now it feels like the skin is on fire and really tight.
i really want to scratch it but i cant.
have been putting on cream the tattooist(?) gave me but it doesn't seem to help.
anyone else with experience of tattoos have any tips on anything i can use to help?
my pal suggested some baby cream but i cant remember what it was called now.

was the cream suggested called bepanthen? nappy cream

ive used it on both my tattoos really good stuff

E45 cream ??

Savlon

sudocrem:thumbsup:

i've always used Savlon, although i've heard Vaseline helps too??

try some sudocreme works wonders!
just try not to scratch it or it might go patchy
what design did you get, i want to get another tattoo but i can't decide what i want!

noting really helps it just takes time to heal,

Wait til it starts scabbing, you will want to pick it off, dont pick it it can lose the colour in parts if you pick the scab!!!

it just falls off its self

Vaseline is not recommended, It can pull the colour apparently.

tattoist said not to use vaseline as it makes your tattoo go mushy...whatever that means!
it was a tattoo of my two bunnies, very cute,
one died a few weeks ago so i finally decided to go through with it.
didnt realise how sore it would be on my foot though,
cant put any shoes on or flipflops because of where it is.

DONT use vaseline, strips the colour out. Can we see a piccy? And the foot and the ankle is the worst places because its boney!

it is.
goes on to soul of my foot on one side

good job i didnt take the vaseline option then lol. Stuck with Savlon, worked for all my tattoo's.

Is this your first - could it just be an allergic reaction?

I hope it clears...

yikes!!

me too:)

its not swollen or anything so not sure about an allergic reaction.
hoping its just because it is on a really boney bit

Can you clarify if your tattoo is black ink only or is the red colouring meant to be there?

Is it a possibility you have maybe had an allergic reaction to the bepanthen?:?

havn't used bepanthen yet, just proper cream from tattoist.
the tattoo is coloured in black and brown with some white, the white bits are the sorest.
they were done over the top of some brown bits(dont know if that makes a difference).

What's the proper cream?

Hopefully it's just a reaction to the pigment used....let us know how you get on.

Always used Savlon. The tightening feeling is normal, should last no longer than a week. If the itchiness is too much give the area a smart slap, honestly, Any doubts give the tattoo studio a call.

it's just a vitamin A + D gel.

cheers everyone.
hopefully i'll be fine in a few days.

The 'proper' cream, is it a petroleum jelly with vitamin A,D &E? That's what mine gives me

Just a word of warning, what you are feeling is normal, but be a little watchful of it as apparently foot tattoos are a bit tricky and can cause blood poisoning (harbinger of doom much lol!)

lol!
oh god i hope not,sure it'll be fine:thumbsup:

As Petroleum jelly is Vaseline, i wouldn’t use it, Berpanthem is the best cream to use.

Another tip is get a flannel and soak it in really hot water (as hot as you can stand it) ring it out and hold it on your tatt. PLEASE BE WARNED IT IS GOING TO STING LIKE HELL FOR ABOUT 30 SECONDS, but the heat is great for helping it heal, then allow to air dry then smother in berpantham.

I have done this method on all my tatt’s ( some pretty big ones too) and it helped speed up the healing time as well as leave a perfect finished tatt.

Always use Bepanthen, nothing else.

When I got tatts - they recommended haemorrhoid ointment (preparation H). It's important that you use an ointment as they're oil based and won't dry out like a cream will.

Yes that was the in thing in the past, now they found Bepanthan is better.
