    Tattoo's

right basically, im thinking about getting my first tattoo, i was thinking about getting mum on my left wrist and dad on my right. But here's the problem, i have a phobia about needles lol. Has anybody get a decent way on how to block out the thought about it and also give me advice on the two fonts i have picked for the tattoo's.

    Thanks people

why would i regret having mum and dad tattooed on me? i mean with the amount of things they have done for me, its a sign of respect towards them

don't do it OP that's almost like getting "love" and "hate" tattooed on your knuckles!!

each to their own danny, i would never consider getting that sort of tattoo.

you have to think long and hard about a lifetime commitment. a tattoo is for life, not just for christmas.

seriously, you need to think about getting something cooler otherwise you may well live to regret it.

i have two tattoos, just symbols really, but i was attracted to them as i was able to make suggestions to the artist who then incorporated them into the designs, plus i liked the range of colours used. having said that, mine are both upper arms so easy to hide if i don't want them on show. less easy to do this on wrists.

A tattooist can use cream to numb the area so you won't feel the pain. I know that you can pick up very small tubes of the stuff from asda but can't remember the name of it!

hmm, yeah i see where your coming from mate, i will have a rethink about it, but as its my first tattoo and i have a serious phobia about needles, i wanted something small first and i thought something like this would be something good for my parents to appreciate it with as i haven't exactly been the best son over the past few years lol ( im only 19 :)) but i just cant think of anything else that i would want to get or where as it is a big decision.

Thank you. Only reason I know is that friend of mine does tattoos and did one on his mum so used that cream. I asked him about it as I fancied getting a tattoo but didn't like the pain aspect. It's like EMLA cream that they use in hospitals, mainly on kids, to numb the area that they have to stick a cannula in or take blood from.

its not so much the pain aspect i care about, its more the fact that i have a massive phobia about needles so was thinking about taking my ipod in with me to blank out the sound but im not sure if this is allowed?

i was bricking it as well mate but it actually aint to bad and you start to get use to it, you also have whatever you want, dont worry if people are saying the thing your having is wrong because at the end of the day its your body

Why not get a henna tattoo and see if you like it. At least then you'll have the choice afterwards. If you get a 'normal' tattoo end up disliking it, it could be a lifelong scar you hate.

yep...which means i can change them so that I can have different ones depending on my mood.

be careful with henna tattoo's some ppl have permanent scars after being burnt by them

permanent had my last tat done 8 years ago and have been dying to get another one ever since but couldn't decide what of. i think i've more or less decided now

I think there are two separate issues here:
I really don't see how having mum and dad tattooed on yourself shows respect/appreciation/love for your parents. Surely buying them something permanent would be a better option if you want to spend money. Personally, I'd rather any of my children let me know in other ways (telling me/writing a letter) that they appreciate me than have a tattoo. Plus, the tattoo wouldn't be something they can see/appreciate all of the time. Maybe they dislike tattoos..............
In my opinion, the best way to show how much you care for your parents is to love them.
If you want to have a tattoo then choose a design that expresses who you are...................
I just think , as a parent of adult children, that I wouldn't want any of mine having a tattoo for the reasons you give, Thay all have tattoos but because they love the designs.

    ^^^^^^^^^^ most definately this
it's taken me 8 years to even have a rough idea of what my next one should be and i absolutely love the one i already have

    +1

My parents would just cringe and enquire as to why I wanted to look like a chav! Tattoos on women just look vulgar imo.

Seriously thinking in investing in laser removal companies as they are gonna be overwhelmed with work in the coming years once this current younger generation hit their forties and realise how silly they look.

    Bad idea for tattoos.

One day, you'll be feeling frisky and you'll want a release.

Will you use 'mummy' or 'daddy'?:o:o:o

Just look around at the 60yr olds with celtic bands that were the fashion some years ago ... buy Mum and Dad something nice..
If my kids came home with a tattoo to show their love for me I would kick their backsides!

I have nothing against Tattoos infac
t I have two myself, but I have to agree with this. I would much rather my child mark himself permantly with somthing that was individual and special to him rather than some distorted homage to me.

Seriously though terrible idea can you imagine any future gf if you get that far, I'd be very suprised if that did not freak most out.

I'd die if my sons suggested that, get a pattern you want, it's just not, I dunno just a bit weird.
