    Technics 1210

Looking for a single Technics 1210 record deck, ebay isn't looking too good for it at the moment, looking to spend £125 max really.

    Anyone?

    ta, will check it out.

To be honest, I found out myself when flogging mine that they keep a good price...

For a good condition one, you're looking around £200+

yeah is a good thing really as I only need it for about a month max, am looking to record my vinyls onto PC as I've just purchased some Axis 9 CD decks and am stuck without all my best tunes

Best thing to do, get a USB Turntable...

They're not more than £125 and it'll sort it all out for you

I have looked at that option but they are all belt driven so won't get the best results, plus Technics plus a decent needle will give me stupidly good quality - which is what you need in clubs and stuff.

Don't be fooled into thinking they are a poor quality...

They will give you the same results as you would get from a Technics through Mixer/Amp, into PC.

Remember, you're adding more connections to allow the Technics to be connected to the PC, which will cut the quality (obv barely noticeable), but prob more so than a direct digital connection from the USB Turntable.

Even though they are belt driven, you only need it to run at one speed, so there is no pitching it up/down for it to slip.

Simple solution for a simple task. Technics is overkill for this.

I've used a USB Turntable and recorded MP3s, and you cannot tell the difference at all.

    what decks you got?

If you're not DJing you don't want to be using Techincs - they are brilliant decks in terms of ruggedness, torque and reliability but sound quality is not a patch on hi-fi decks with decent tone-arms/cartridges, and a basic hi-fi quality belt-drive deck with quality (Shure etc) cartridge will give you better sound quality than the technics ever will. Belt drive is better as the motor noise is more removed from the the stylus (its just utterly [email protected] for DJing with!)

What do you plan to use to amplify the signal to line level before going into the computer? If its a mixer, make sure its a decent quality one or you will not get the best sound quality...

well, I have a brand new Vestax mixer, but more than likely with the USB deck go straight into the PC via that, will see what the results are for both though.

Vestax mixer should be good. Anyway, if you find a 1210 for £120 its either nicked or knackered or both, they hold their value like nothing else. And provided the USB deck can hold speed it will probably sound fine (although your best bet is probably a cheap hifi deck with quality cartridge wired through the mixer). Something like this ]new would be good - definately will sound better than Technics or cheap USB deck when properly set up, but its quite a lot to spend if you don't plan on keeping it...

Search 'project debut' on ebay and theres quite a few...
