    TECHY HELP: HIGH SPEC PC

I have an assignment to do for college for tonight and forget all about it.

I need to "spec, and build" a top of the range PC, min of £800 NOT including PRINTER or MONITOR, but to include a choice of XP PRO and Vista.

Can anyone help me please? All the usual suspects that you would normally get in a home PC.

    Rep for helpers!

    Dual graphics - SLI mobo
    Core 2 Quad CPU
    4 GB DDR3 RAM
    500GB? HDD

Yum. Not actually building it though, are you?

LOL top of the [email protected]£800 ummm more like top of the middle range

well vista ultimate is the baby as the oem licence allows you to downgrade to xp, other than that it probably won't matter what you pick as long as you can justify it, ie
I choose the intel core 2 duo processor as it is recognised as the current market leader.
The mainboard selected was an asus because they currently offer features at that price point no others do and come with extended warranties etc..

i'm assuming that as well as HDD, memory, motherboard ad processor, you need to get DVD writer, PSU, Case, Fan, Heatsink, keyboard & mouse etc etc???

have a look on dabs.com, ebuyer.com, cclonline.co.uk etc etc to get an idea of average and quick to buy & supply prices. once you know what you want, you can always shop around for cheaper prices.

does this need to be bought and built for tonight? or just a theoretical "build"??

I'd put on there a 1TB drive instead of the 500gb. You can get a 1TB drive for around £80 so it won't really effect the budget.

exactly!! i wish college would give me the money to buy it, but no, sadly not! its all about "lets pretend"..

so, with that in mind, giz the exact compoments for each please. I'll drafting up a spec sheet so will let you know as/when, and what else i need.
