Right have a little ongoing problem with a baby tooth I still have (moller befor the canine on me left hand side)

Its started becoming sensitive, so went back to the dentist and he said it could be slowly dieing we will try calming it down then resetting the filling.

But he said its probably going to die eventually and end up living a hole in my mouth.

Surely there must be something I can have done to save the tooth.

Anyone have any experience or knowledge that might help.

Thanks

i have a great pair of mole grips and can sort it for you:lol::lol:

Have it taken out and a false one put in (if there's not one growing through behind it)! I still had a baby tooth (third from front) when I was 16 that had to be taken out because it just wasn't going to budge, but I had one behind it!! You should congratulate yourself for having such clean teeth

Theres nothing behind it, what's these false ones like. (25 now had three fillings in the sod)

I wish it was because I was that hygenic just because theres nothing behind it.

Cheers Dog_cop I will put you down as the cheap option.

and give them a once over with the blow torch to ensure they are sterile! Also dont let them cool, as we can then use them to cauterize the hole afterwards.

Cheers have had the option thrown about of capping it, false tooth and a root canal, though the dentist mentioned none of them.

Got a feeling this could end up being very pricey.

Yeah generally anything beyond what the doctor recommends means it will be off your back and your be liable to pay the lot! And dentistry is expensive! At the practice where my girlfriend use to work they use to charge £65 for a checkup. Then any work was mega expensive! For example I believe a removal of a tooth with local anesthetic costs £120-150 :w00t:

It's ridiculous.

I paid £12 for a 5 min checkup thought that was pricey. Should of become a dentist.

Yeah good money for it, a locum for 3months work at the practice got paid £35k  Wasnt even really full time hours either.

The only way to save the actual tooth if it's dying is to remove the nerve (root canal), but the tooth can become discoloured after a while (kind of transparent, but not quite).

If the tooth comes out it's a false one fitted. Never had a capped tooth so can't comment!!

a baby tooth???

when my daughter turned 15 she had two baby teeth remaining and her orthodontist had them removed as he said they shouldn't still be in the mouth then??

There isn't a tooth behind it though. So would leave a gapping hole.

I don't care if the tooth becomes discoloured so long as I can eat. Its far enough back to only notice when I open my mouth wide.

have the root canal done and the tooth crowned..... but....

I dont think baby teeth have roots like adult teeth tho.......... you'll have to see what the dentist says there must be a way to make sure you don't have a gap xxx

i had the same problem i ended up having to get it out and a temperory denture for 6 months then a bridge to hide the gap cost £675 in the end as had to go private for the bridge as all nhs would offer was denture and it was horrible just felt odd

i had a baby tooth out a little while ago it was at the back so cant notice it, had to have it out as it was dying and going yucky

This is the options my girlfriend basically said there was, either to have an implant which ideally they use the old tooth anyways and if its in disrepair makes things very difficult, have the bridge, or just have a gap and have done with it!

Ok, going back today because i'm in a fair bit of pain. I'm guessing they have blocked the nerve.
