    Teething!

My daughter turned 6 months old yesterday and i've just felt a shap point on her gums and can see a bit of white where the point is. How long did it take for the tooth to cut through when your kids?

she has been showing signs of teething from about 2 months old.

1 night, each time. apparently we had it easy.

but of calpol out for a 3am drive with the window down, back to sleep within 2 motorway junctions, and back home till the morning.

It depends really, every child is different. Some dribble for weeks before any teeth. Some get their's really quickly with no problems, other feel unwell and take ages. Main thing is to keep your little girl comfortable if it hurts her. Bonjela and calpol do the trick. Wipe the gums with bonjela now and again - follow the directions on the pack. Give calpol if really bad. Good luck and congrats on her first tooth

I found that dried apple rings were great. My 2 daughters could chew on these without risk of eating something unsavory. I used to attach the rings with ribbon to their baby grows so that they could find them themselves, saving me a job!

I was 13 months when my first tooth came through, I always thought this was a tad exaggerated until I had my first and she cut her first tooth at 15 months!! She walked and talked beautifully but not a peg in sight.(Dentist said its hereditary).

For reference there has been stuff in the press today about teething gels, just be VERY careful which teething gel you get

Thanks for that, i think it was the adult bongela but we've been using calgel which is the teething gel by calpol.

I used to use ashton and parsons powders for my daughters or a touch of calpol, but the wee man its not really bothered him, can tell when hes cutting tho as he bites on his fingers, hes 13 months and has 12 teeth, he got his first at 3 months, as did my eldest daughter, middle daughter didnt get hers til about 6 months.

Doesn't usually take too long for it to push through once its broken the skin.

My son got his last week @ 19 weeks old. Its now pushed through and can see its a tooth, sooo cute! 2 days before I saw the white... ready for it to go through
