Recently Sky+'d this to watch, was just about to sit down with daughter to watch and noticed in the info it says "the third outing into Terry Pratchett's magical Discworld" was just wondering if this is a stand alone program, or if I need to have seen the first two?

Any one know?

thanks

It will be fine as long as you have some idea of the Discworld series although they do give you some background at the start

They're individual stories set on the Discworld. You shouldn't have any problems.

I think it is a stand alone programme, I watched it when it was on originally. It was ok, watchable but I hadn't read any TP before although I had heard how good they were. i must admit although the programme was ok I was expecting something a little better.

Thanks guys. I did try to watch the Hogfather, but didn't finish watching it, can't really remember why, lol.

I also hear how good the books are, think maybe it's a case of the movie/tv show not living up to the book.

Not sure whether to bother now... lol

most jokes in the book can not be translated onto film

I would watch it I did and enjoyed it but the books are much better I have read them all.

It wasn't as mythical/ magical (can't find the right word) as I imagined a TP story would be given the fact that his world is flat and sits on the back of elephants on the back of a turtle.

She's 16, likes things like that though.

Decided to give it a miss, I mentioned Hogafather to her and she remembers that we didn't like it, turned it off half way through. Might give it another go at some point though, or just invest in the books

Oh right, was going to say if she was younger might be too old for her (although was aimed at families, couldnt see anyone younger than 14 sitting through it)

Worth trying, see if you get into it. 3 of us watched hogfather and thought it was reeeeeeeeeally boring, turned it off after about half an hour and deleted it. All enjoyed this one though
