Tesco 1p deals nationwide - now confirmed as not a misprice

Found 23rd Sep 2010
I've had a peek incase anyone has already posted this, but I can only see the Head and Shoulders or After Eights up. Apologies if i'm being blind and someone has already posted!

The Daily Mail has confirmed that the 1p deals are on purpose, not a misprice, and are Tesco clearing out discontinued stock. They are not going to change the Point of Sale in stores, or make it particularly clear what will be/is 1p, but there is a list of things confirmed as 1p so far.

Below is a list of items that we know are included at the moment, and their original prices

PLEASE post any more that you find, and be prepared for a bun fight in Tescos as no doubt everyone will be down there grabbing as much as they can.

Had to go to tesco yesterday, looked for the shampoo, only the new full price ones were there in my store. I'm not going to hunt for these, knowing my luck i wont find any even if i did. :-)
i thought i just read somewhere that tesco where pulling this, it was a misprice and they are checking all prices at till
I got 4 of the cup games today for 1p, should have been £12.00 ...Bargain.!!! Went to the self scanner first to check...didnt ask anyone in store. May have to check the after eights tomorrow or shampoo ! Thanks

exactly what I read-and Im not quite sure why tesco are "not going to change the point of sale"-since thats illegal-price displayed must be the price you pay. Trading standards may allow some leeway in certain cases where errors are made but if the daily mail have said that tesco have actually stated they arent going to change the pos then they may be in some trouble.

havent seen the mail article, but daily record says it IS a mistake.
barky i dont think they are marked at 1p so i dont think the above counts

MSE - 1p deals list.

thanks! That's fantastic
It will not be a misprice if they are coming out somewhere like the daily mail saying it's to clear stock. Unless some hapless PR patsy has given a quote incorrectly and is now being slapped at head office

Mail Article

They say in the article...
A Tesco spokesman said: ‘This is no computer glitch. These are discontinued products which have gone beyond the "reduced to clear" period.

'Our view is it is better these items are sold rather than being thrown away.

'It is completely random as to whether people come across the 1p items. But there are going to be some lucky customers out there who find the most amazing bargains.'

Does anyone have any idea why the ratings aren't showing up?
I've not seen that before (i'm guessing someone has put a stop on it for some reason?) I've no idea how that bit works

Seems like it

Nah generally we lead very different lives. (LOL)
Just been down to Tesco in Sandhurst ( the biggest in the country) went with my trusty list and picked up several of the items. None of them came up on self scan as 1p, so came away with the bread and the milk I went in for. very disappointed........

Why does someone ALWAYS have to argue the toss ??? Dont know why I bother. It is people like you that prevent people posting on this forum AND the reason why there are so many lurkers.
Nothing like making people feel welcome.
The Daily Mail says so, so it must be true.

LOL... fair point, but my retort would be why post that completely unnecessary and inaccurate information in the first place.

Fair both ways I think.

What I was trying to point out was that if it wasn't happening at ONE of the biggest stores in the country then it probably wasn't happening much in any of the other stores. Didn't want people to mission on down to their tesco's and come out as hacked off as I was. I was not doubting what anyone has said, just that in my local one it isn't happening !

You said you went in for bread and milk anyway so why have you got any reason to be hacked off? Plus what has the size of the store got to do with anything? It could be the smallest or the biggest, still about the same chance of finding anything.

Eh?

Not really, but this was a pointless whinge I accept. But I'm at my most dangerous when getting pwned :P

Everytime I **** off the whinger (you know who), I get people crying on the forum, and people laughing and slagging it off via PM. You have to admit, its disgusting.

Anyone else I'd agree, but there could never be anything sexually motivated with that....

People seem to forget why I and many others have an issue with her anyway. She knows what he has to do to make it stop - act like a reasonable person. Thats it. I'm judge and juror.

I'm pretty sure I've heard that Tesco don't always reduce the price on the tickets when they reduce items due to time/expense etc of doing so. I think they can get away with it as people are actually getting charged less than the POS, rather than more. If you were paying more than was at the POS then Trading Standards would possibly get involved. If you get charged less I don't think anyone will complain - I usually just pay and get out ASAP before they notice!

Prices

There is a general requirement to display prices for retail goods on offer. However, if the goods can only be obtained as a result of a service (such as a consultation), there is no need to price the goods.

Prices you display must be accurate. It is an offence to give a price indication, by any means (e.g. written or oral), that is wrong or misleading to the consumer. 'Misleading' could be, for example, if a shop omitted to include a compulsory consultation charge in the price of any goods, or if the value of any 'saving' displayed on a special offer was exaggerated

from trading standards own website-from personal experience when working in asda, the reason they employ a price change team in every store is to ensure they comply-all price changes whether UP or DOWN,must be changed and be accurate.

now, obviously,if something is priced at ten quid, and you get it for a penny-the customer hasnt been done in any way and will be happy, but it is still illegal-prices MUST be accurate-it is an offence to give a price in writing or verbally which is WRONG.

clearly, nobody is going to complain re the tesco offer, but the point I made about the illegality of it is correct.

Another member of the HUKD "clique" surfaces.

If "the HUKD clique" means those who can read a totally innocuous comment without throwing a hissy fit then you can count me in too

Hope you manage to get some 1p items next time you go to Tesco, maybe it'll spare us another rant
sooooooo has anyone actually got any of the 1p items?

dont have a tesco near to me to try it out
