The best hotel / B&B you've ever stayed at?

Found 11th Jul 2008
Since meeting my partner a year and a half ago I've done a lot more travelling, including visiting a few places over the UK. We've often made weekends out of otherwise formal situations (such as visting unis) and driven right up and down the UK, staying in Travel Inns and the like.

In March my birthday present was a trip to the Isle of Wight, taking my car on the Wight Link ferry and staying in a B&B for the weekend. We stayed in Moortown, by Brighstone in a somewhat little-known place called Moortown B&B. The owners of the cottage basically have a smaller cottage next to theirs which they use to rent to vistors. It was by far the best place we've stayed in - such a nice atmosphere, 4 poster bed (most comfortable thing I've ever slept in), the whole little cottage to ourselves, the biggest breakfasts imaginable and absolutely fantastic hosts we spent 2 hours chatting to about the Island after breakfast! The little touches were amazing such as constantly having a supply of drinks / snacks / chocolates, always having the cottage cleaned when we went out and so much info given to us about the Island.

I can't see any other accomodation we stay at in the future topping Moortown B&B.

So I pose the question - what's the best Hotel or Bed & Breakfast you've stayed at? I guess it doesn't have to be in the UK, though naming a good UK place would be good!

I'll post some pics in my next post.

The best hotel we stayed in was the suderland marriott, it was a HUGE suite, with seperate living room and seperate HUGE bathroom with seperate shower cubicle and double sinks, plus it is right on the sea front, so gorgeous views. Don't forget you can't beat that full breakfast in the morning too:-D

Last tIme I went on Holiday which was a while back, I stayed in a hostel!

hostel FTW.

I couldnt afford a place like this for holidays if it were not for my time share,
I go here every year and it is absolutely amazing it actually costs me £100 for my first week (2 bed with jacuzzi in master bedroom) and then gettaways that cost approx £240 p.w. so I go for 3 weeks and my friends get a gettaway from me too so they have their own apartment a I am allowed 12 per year
Timeshare IS the best investment i ever made - i only own 1 week in wales and never ue it because it is at seasons and I can go an use all the season places like Laughne Park and Whitbarrow village etc for £45 - £150 for 3 days any time I like

I won a seasons membership a couple of weeks ago which they said was worth nearly £4,000 ... I thought it was a scam, didn't really bother to read it either & think I chucked the letter & stuff away ! :w00t: hope this wasn't the same thing ?

The best Band B I stayed in was ]Skygarth in temple sowerby. it was a farm and Sheila has to be one of the most welcoming people I have ever met.
Everytime we've been we have been given the hugest room with access to bathroom and seperate toilet and have the lounge all to ourselves

I can highly recommend Season time share as they are the best (and no I dont work for them) I have had a timeshare at Season Laughne Park for a number of years - about 10 I think - and when the childrenwere younger we used to go to Devon and stay at one of their resorts from Mn to Fri for roughly £45, we had a house a three bed semi on a complex with everything there - my friends (who are a band - also use this instead of staying in a few hotel rooms it they are in scotland or devon or Lake district playing they will use my timeshare for a fraction of the cost of 1 night they have 2 or 3 bedrooms all facilities, ie. sky cooking, washing disshwasher etc. Season have them all over and once you are 'in the system' you can use - you can just walk into any of their gyms or swimming pools and use all over the world and all over the country - Also I put the ONE week I bought into a bank every year - I dont need to use it (why would I go to Wales - I live here) so I put it in a bank with Interval International - where I then have a choice of anywhere in the world - there is always loads of availability- but I obviously only own one week (why own more) so I am entitled to 12 gettaways for myself, my family and my friends.
Cypress Harbour - where I am going again this year and my friends are also going in another apartment through me - is a Marriott and absolutely the best place I have every been, but I bought 2 weeks of gettaways = £500 and used my own week to make up to 3 weeks in a sleep 8 apartment. So 3 weeks at Marriott cypress Harbour for 8 people (although only 4 in my apartment) = £500.
