The England flag - Still being banned across the country

THE England flag was STILL being banned across the country yesterday - amid national outrage.

Killjoys defied a furious backlash - led by The Sun - by concocting a litany of pathetic excuses.

They included the flags making official vehicles look TACKY, that the St George Cross might appear RACIST - and fears one could fall off and HURT someone.

I just feel sorry for the poor horse in one of the photos ......

COME ON ARE BOYS! Support are boys in Africa by reading me poems/raps/lyrics on pages 8 and 9.

Let's rape racism out of football and stab bigotry in the vulva!

I see nothing unreasonable in the banning of flags on company/council own vehicles.

If the companies who own their vehicles do not want their staff putting flags over them it is entirely their own choice. I wish people would stop reading the absolute trash that The Sun deems fit to print. Show some respect for yourself and do not take this as The Sun wants you to. They incite this type of negative attitude amongst society.

I don't believe anybody actually gets offended by the flags. I think it's just overly concerned people who worry someone may get offended by them.

    It was!!

No story has been published where members of the public have been told how to deal with their own property. It is only property of others and in the course of employment. Some people need to get a grip and stop assuming they are being labelled a racist.

Wow, Sun does a story about how unnamed 'people' are banning flags left right and centre and at the same time is giving away a large flag with 'The Sun' in big letters on it. If I didn't know any better I would suspect a newspaper is using isolated cases to start another stupid campaign just to shift papers.

This for those who are at work not for an individual like you. Seriously you need to learn to read properly.

Thames Water confirmed: "We can't have company vehicles draped with flags and stickers."

Yes, health and safety is less important and the bosses should go back home. Are they not at home already?

Exactly - I mean you'd probably be in one of the more rural areas in the north-west where they're much more prevalent, and that would raise questions about why you would be so close to the Afghanistan border and why as a western person you'd want to call attention to yourself in what is a fairly dangerous area....

but your excellent analysis is spot on:thumbsup:

I also noted in the "story" they say that they have banned flags on their employees "own" vehicles. Whilst these employees are in the course of their employment their employer can expect them to follow reasonable orders. This is a very reasonable request.

Not in this story does it say people consider these flags racist. It concerns itself with H&S. The Sun is dire.

Re-read little boy.... In this country we are always being told we can't do this and that cos it might offend some one, well if you went to another country (espaically middle east) and said you were offended by a tradition of theirs, you would be ignored.

I am peed off with the amount of killjoys in this country, saying we can't fly flags because it's racist, can't call christmas as it's not a holiday for muslims,

Oxford city council confirmed the events in the city would be renamed … Oxford city council confirmed the events in the city would be renamed 'Winter Light Festival' to make them more inclusive, provoking outrage among shoppers in the city who called for a return to tradition.

I didn't say anything about a protest, I was making a point, there are far too many people who get their nose up on being offended on the little things.

    What's chavtastic about being patriotic?

If a company bans flags from their work vehicles for health and safety or for littering, but to say cos it could be racist is balls, give a proper reason, don't try and get out of it with the race card.

"We would refrain employess from adding flags to their vehicles because it shows the company in a bad way blah blah" would be better than "it's racist".

I know of at least one RAF base where the people there aren't allowed flags on their cars....they have to be removed upon entry....from what I gather no reason was given

That could be a good reason, as if the flag flies off the car and get stuck in a jet's engine, could be a lot of casualties...

Yes, there are instances where we are a very PC nation. I absolutely believe this is mainly down to the awful media and their ability to turn something trivial in to something sinister.

    You are so right.

Last Christmas (are we still allowed to say that word) you would barely see any decorations or mention of it.

The local council actually arrested a man in my street the day after he put his decorations up. They said it was because he had murdered a prositute, but is isn't it a coincidence they waited until he put a giant santa up on his roof??

It's health and safety gone made:x
