My orange phone likes to dump calls all the time.. drives me crazy xx

my daughter gets this on orange when her phone is off

thats the message my phone gives when switched off

fingers crossed its still the same number and you can have a good catch up.

Another thing to try do is perhaps send a text message and switch your delivery report on. .....so if and when he does switch phone on, you will get notification

    good luck!

If the voicemail is turned off it could mean the mobile is out of reception, or off.
I have bad reception and people get this from my phone as I refuse to pay to collect voicemail messages when 95% of them are people waffling on for ages and either phone you back again later or friends/family you catch up with later anyway!

A friend gave me her mobile number but when I ring it I get the not available message.
Is her phone switched off or did she give me the wrong number?
If so, would it not give me a different message?

    A) Did you read any of the stuff above
    B) How would we know if your friend gave you the wrong number? How do we know what the correct number is?

Who are you Demonmeister to be so rude!!!???
I only wondered if it was always that the phone was switched off that the message came as if the number didn't exist I would have thought another message would come on. Please be more considerate and courteous in your answers in future!

Maybe you consider her to be more of a friend than she does of you, and she just gave you any old number to get rid of you?

Thank you Brilly for your reply. I had read all the other comments and none of them mentioned whether it was the same message for an unknown number or if the phone was just turned off or out of range.
Also, Deeky, I think you (sadly) might be right as she isn't replying to any of my emails either.
I worry that she might be ill that's all. I'll just have to keep trying and hope that she will seek me out sometime.
    Thanks .

The very first comment on the thread is the correct answer. No it wouldn't give you a different message, why would it? Are you so extra special the O2 network know it's you calling and switches to the 'oh yay, it's crispin40!' message.

I have one of my phones set up this way, because I was fed up of useless tossers costing me all my credit, by leaving answer phone messages about nothing, I couldn't delete without ringing up their proxy expensive voice mail service.

For the record, it's the number I give to everyone I never want to speak to and probably hate, because I never answer it.

Your friend probably hates you and now so does everyone on the internet, for bumping a 5 year old thread.

I'm sorry if I added to your stress. I was only trying to be entertaining and wouldn't have done so if I had known your situation.

In all seriousness, all it means is your friends answer phone is turned off so people can't leave messages, usually to save credit. If it goes straight to that unavailable message without ringing, the phone is turned off too, or the battery has run out, or has no phone signal.

I would try not to worry too much and try again a bit later.

Awww dont be put off this site or the internet. Hopefully you will get used to the banter and learn to spot the nasty people from the jokers. (kitty is fine, she cant help being from the North East :() No harm was meant.

One piece of advice though, keep your wits about you and dont disclose personal information to strangers on the net.

    Hope that helps

If that's true it would be well planned. I thought the 40 stood for 40 years old. But I think now it's for 1940, that would make Crispin 74 or 75.

OK. Apologies accepted and I also apologise to anyone I have upset by not knowing the procedures.
Yes I am really 74 - born towards the end of 1940 tho at times, I still feel 17!
Now that all the apologies have been made and hopefully accepted, what are the current topics that I could join in on? I have belonged to the forums on ABE Books and occasionally go on to Big Fish Games forums if I get stuck on a game but that's the limit to my forum experience. I do also do FaceBook but its methods are a mystery to me!.

Hi Crispin and welcome to hukd. 74 eh? Hmm. Male or female?

Only joking, you're a bit young for me

Just have a browse around the misc section (that's where you are now). We discuss anything and everything so feel free to join in

And you've not upset anyone btw.

All the sections of the site (Deals, Freebies, Misc etc) have a 'Discussed' tab at the top left of the screen. If you click on that, it will show you which threads have been commented on on most recently and are active.

General off topic stuff belongs here in Misc:

    http://www.hotukdeals.com/all/misc/discussed

If you find something that is a few years old, it's usually better to make a new thread about it than comment on a very old one. You can do that by clicking on the red 'Submit +' button at the top right of the page.

It's usually quite a friendly place, just jump into any of the current topics Hope you enjoy it

Thanks for the suggestion, I haven't heard of it before. I've just given it a go, but that phone is so old it still has android market on it, rather than play store. It can't be updated any more so new apps don't even show up. There one isn't in the store unfortunately.
