    I don't care, spend away!

Haha, I find it funny, I haven't spent a penny since I joined this site, some say hukd can actually cure shopaholics.

There was a young fellow from Brent
Whose money was all gone and spent
    He found it too hard
    To stop using his card
Until the bailiff came and chucked him out of his house, repossessed all his stuff, his wife left him and he had to move to Glastonbury and live in a tent.

Can't get that last line to scan. :whistling:

    wow some bladder you have!

I had the same problem, just spending too much on nothing particular, and this is what I did and I'm glad I did it:

    1. I started monitoring every single penny, updated my expense spreadsheet every evening, accounting for every penny.
    2. Sold excess material I owned on ebay including Mobiles, dvd's, etc
    3. Divided my income into 3 categories, 1. Never to spend 60%, 2. emergency spend 10% and regular spend 30%.

    4. Then reviewed my expenses over a month period and found shocking results, where stuff I was spending money on such as take outs, taxes, drinks, etc gave no result in my life.

So I decided to re-plan my life around improving my current situation and expense, and gladly after 6 months I'm saving money at almost 75% of my income, which is awesome and im not loosing out on any freedom just sensible buy.

    hopes this helps

im afraid if you stopped paying taxes you wouldnt be with us now i reckon...unless your good at hiding, so i think your fibbing! although taxes could be argued to have no result in your life.

My income I get is after all my deductions, including Tax, NI and student loads cutts. the work out I game you is based on salary and income after cuts.

    What's so hard about that.

I have no debts apart from student loads which is deducted via my salary. I have re-organised my life style. Stopped my expensive gym membership which I hardly used and took up football and a jog in the park. I sold my car and purchased a smaller one. Down graded my mobile contract, etc

stuff like this has encouraged me to save.

But you can be right, what works for me does not work for everyone. But hey, I'm in control of my life not my credit cards or taxes.

nah no worries, i know what things are like, this year so far hasnt been too bad for me (im a student) just havent been able to save anything really, but i hardly drink, i dont smoke, i dont get TAXIS or other silly expenditures. however i do enjoy going out for meals, and i also travel back home to london (not the usual student home or the parents either, mine and my girlfriends). But even then i refuse to get anything but cheap advance tickets!

However i do still like to treat myself and others to sometimes silly little bits. But i dont generally go OTT.
