    The Power of HUKD?

I noticed that Shell brought their fuel down by 1p yesterday. Do you think one of their directors is a member of HUKD and read the recent posts about boycotting Shell?

more likely it's a result of oil dropping to under $80 per barrel - this price reduction, alongside moving towards Spring (meaning less need for heating, meaning less demand on oil, so less need for the oil companies to product as much). don't forget the taxman is lumping another 2p per litre tax in April. Cheers Gordon and Co.!

i love it when people think a boycot of shell would help

-BP and Esso sell fuel to most the supermarkets/inderpendent fuel courts
-It's the government that needs to be targeted to reduce the 80%
taxation on road fuel not the oil companies (although they are not
    totally innocent).
-its the govenment chargeing too much tax on it, every £10 you put in
£7.50 is tax the fuel is cheap but not the tax

Ahem, small point people. Who do you think the Supermarkets buy their
    fuel from? The Russians?

They buy off the big nasty international conglomerates like BP and
Shell, so they get your money either way. Either by selling you the
expensive, additive improved petrol out of their own pumps, or by
selling you the **** stuff at Tesco or Sainsbury.

They won't lose much money at that either, as they sell cheaper
quality fuel to supermarkets AND the cost of supermarket fuel is lower
because they run a thin profit margin, which is subsidised by the food

The only way to get cheaper fuel in the UK is to cut the taxes on it
and that will mean taxes will come from other places, you have to
balance the countries books and pay for things like the NHS,
Education, Public Amenities, Family Allowances, State Pensions etc
etc. People always make comparisons with fuel prices in the US when it
comes to the cost of petrol, but they don't have an NHS or a lot of
the things we take for granted.

I'd rather they put all the tax for transport on fuel so it was even
more expensive and do away with road tax, insurance tax and VAT on
servicing and maintaining your car. That way you would only pay for
how much you use the roads, which is fairer IMO. That way Fat cats in
Jags and Mercs would then pay more tax than we did, as their gas
guzzlers would use more fuel, the enviromentalists would be happier
and perhaps richer people would stop buying ridiculous cars with ****
MPG because they can fiddle a tax break and claim it all back
