Not having flash sales have killed the steam sale for me. Most games can be had cheaper elsewhere.

steam hasnt been competitive for years....

Although, if you play the right games you earn in game items that sell for steam wallet creds.... = free games

Flash sales, have gone forever I'm afraid due to the refund policy. As if you bought a game on offer at say 50% then it went into a flash sale at 80% people would be requesting a refund and then re-buy it at the lower price.
I still miss them though they did make the sale exciting.

They did make the sale exciting, but also stressful having to sign in once per 8 hour window (sometimes I think they even had shorter flash sales, which were easy to miss).

That said, I've turned over a new leaf recently, 300+ unplayed games on steam means now I only buy something I'm actually going to play imminently. There will always be a better/same deal down the road on digital content (physical a bit different due to resale/rarity)

If you got your timings right, you only needed to do it about every 15 hours or so (for the 8-hour ones). Catch the beginning of one change, then the end of the next.:)

You're not alone. I got a few remarks from my wife about why we 'needed to be home by 22:00'.:D
