    The Stig-does anybody really care?

So the bbc have lost their attempt at an injunction to stop publication of his autobiography.

They claimed that the vast majority of top gear viewers "didnt want to know his identity because it would spoil their enjoyment of the programme"

Really? What difference would it possibly make? He drives cars fast in a silly outfit-thats it.

Has this ruined the programme for everyone then? Personally wouldnt watch anything that Clarkson has anything to do with because he infuriates me.

The idea that a grown man would care so much about the revealing of his identity strikes me as weird.

    OK............................. I am the Stig.

    Sorry!

It would be a breach of the terms of the contract so anybody losing their (paid) position with a clause of that type would care.

To me its a ridiculous decision. I really don't care about who the Stig is, but to me the only reason for releasing the details is to make money. It doesn't benefit the public in any great way. Further, for some it ruins part of the show as his identity is a long running joke.

clearly the judge today didnt think the contract was enforceable-unless you have some training that gives you more legal knowledge than a high court judge?

That was mentioned in one of the previous "The Stig" threads.

I suspect the BBC site team & the producer of (& ex-presenter of 'old') "Top Gear", Andy Wilman, do not speak to each other...

I never said I did. I was just asking if the contents were known, not that I knew them.

Without that information we only have rumour, the World Wide Web, & newspaper columns to base opinions on.

    i don't care

Well, if the article was published before the case began, then it wouldn't matter if Ben Collins was at Court or not as "the press" would already be aware.

But if you don't wish to discuss it, don't bother replying.

Obviously. That is what happens on forums.

Although Barky has used the information from the article to create an informed opinion whereas you're disagreeing on a subject you have limited knowledge about as always.

Can see which one is the smarter doggy can't we.

Yes, there have been multiple drivers; if re-watch the re-runs of the programme on "Dave" you can see body shape/height change since "White Stig" took over from "Black Stig".

    PS.
Who is the Stig? The answer
Top Gear test driver The Stig has been unmasked as professional stuntman and Le Mans racer Ben Collins.

But your question implies that you don't believe what Barky is posting is true even though he's just regurgitating facts.

Please stop with your 90's proverbs. I've told you about the 5 step process before. I think it was number 3 on the list but maybe you'll post in here again, disagree with me then post a link to back up your claim. Finishing it off with a BFN, fp

he signed a contract saying he would keep his ID under wrapps, so he should have stuck to it. Hopefully no-one buys his book and if he does make mnoney out of it, it should go towards the costs of taking this to court which has again come out of tv fee licence money.

a contract is not completely legally binding, for example, if you sign a contract in which the terms are you are allowed to be killed then the contract would be illegal
