Things You Don't See Anymore

What things do you not see anymore on the roads / streets of your city?

I realised today that there are no longer streams of video or cassette tape floating on the breeze from telephone cables.

The local council working on the roads.

I'd link that with the lack of spatial awareness, especially amongst those who have their eyes glued to phone screens.
Kids playing outside

(as parents fear that their offspring will encounter paedophiles, so they let little Jack & little Jill [or little undecided gender-fluid & their non-binary sibling] play on the Internet where they won't meet paedophi... oh).

PS. Also... bees.

They are not online. I checked; they striped.

Old women with headscarf and shopping trolley. Think they're too afraid of getting mugged now?.

Haha, don't see many trainers dangling from phone lines either.
Don't see many plastic carrier bags hanging from the trees and bushes - not that I'm complaining. Proves the 5p incentive works, I think.
A pile of fag butts in the gutter where an ashtray from a car has been emptied.
Dog crap..... I remember in the 70's dodging it left right and centre and not thinking twice about a dog(s) wandering around the streets
The local council working on the roads.
Full stadium at the Etihad
Ice creams vans, milk float, tramps, rusty cars, phone boxes, flat caps on old men, mopeds

Front doors left open in hot weather.

Don't know where you live, but ice cream vans are always around the local schools. We also have Milk&More depot fairly close so see milk floats regularly. Tramps - just go to any shopping centre, although they aren't necessarily called tramps these days. Phone boxes are still about. Old men seem to wear baseball caps these days. Mopeds a plenty, just read any London news, sadly.
Democracy.
Law and Order (not the TV series)
Police presence.
Walk in centre at our local community Hospital (Jarrow)
Cut Grass in public spaces.
Libraries.
Gaps between the paving slabs on pavements (Weeds)

Etc.

Think tramps are now an endangered species, the beggar population has driven them out
People not getting robbed, stabbed or shot.
Happy people
The majority of people you see, smoking.

White dog poo

When I was a kid I used to think that was done by poodles.
Shell suit family.
Someone waiting impaitiently to use a BT phone box
Those shops with dayglo star prices on just about every item.
Burnt out cars and cars on bricks with their wheels gone.
Old Women in flowery tabards.
Paper boys, milkmen, men whistling
Kids playing outside

Police apprehending violent criminals or the car jackers...

Paper boys, milkmen, men whistling

Also... wolves working on building sites.

I think these activites are not limited to males now. There was a change to the law or something like that.

I really miss seeing Police officers aka Bobbies as we call them down here, on our streets. The streets feel less safe these days.

You don't see the officers & staff at the City of London Police Public Space Surveillance Camera System control centre watching the streets either.
