Three- 30 days notice and PAC number

I am on 6 months minimum term contract on Three and given 30 days notice. When I asked for PAC, they told you can either given 30 days notice or request for PAC.

Is it true that you cant have PAC with 30 days notice??

requesting the pac gives your 30 days notice

You can request a PAC once you are within 30 days of the end of your contract. You would request this only if you are intending on porting your number. If you just want to cancel, then you would just request a cancellation with the same time span.

If you don't use your PAC, then you will end up still in the contract and bound over for at least another 30 days.

Too true, I fell foul of this when my PAC time ran out and I had to give another 30 days notice of termination as i decided not to transfer my number When I asked about it they said if I hadn't rang back then the contract would have continued on indefinitely as well .......

also when you give the PAC to the new network they will port your number within a week, but you will still have to pay 3 for the remainder of the contract (even if it is disconnected)

Because your contract says you will give them 30 days notice when you cancel.

If you ask for you PAC inside your final month, then you still have the contract to complete. If you port before the end, you would be expected to pay for the full term of your contract. Similarly, your new provider will expect you to pay from day one of your new contract.

hmm...my assumption was your contract ends the day you port the number and not on day you request. You get 1 month time to use PAC and fix date of porting outside minimum term. That way you might paying current provider maximum one month extra and not for rest of months...

You are contracted for 6/12/18/24 months. You can request your PAC and use it anytime within the final 30 days. However, you will still pay for that final month regardless. Otherwise its potentially only a 5/11/17/23 month contract - and you know full well no mobile company is gonna let you off the hook that easily!

Ok, I have about 5 days left of my PAC with 3. This will take me just outisde my 18 months contract. Do I have to give the new provider the PAC code within those 5 days, or does it all have to be transferred within those 5 days for my contract with 3 to end? if it overruns the 5 days am I then bound to pay another month even if number is ported on, day, day 7 of the new PAC code being issued?

If you let it overrun, you are back where you started. You need to ask for another PAC or give a further 30 days notice if you still want to leave.
