    Toning up..

    Right then, after getting myself down to the weight i want to be.
    Im a guy by the way.
    12 stone, 6ft. 19.

    I want to tone up my stomach, i cannot afford to go the gym.

    What can i do, tone up my stomach, and make it defined if you get me.

    Situps?

    Any relevant replies appreciated

    Mate. a lot of people think that doing 200 situps a day gets rid of fat round the gut and will give you a six pack.... wrong, a flat hard stomach is more about your diet than doing sit ups, most people have good abs under the fat just off everyday exercise, so id suggest runinng.....running...running and some running, combined with a really good diet to get rid off the fat (if u have any) then some weighted decline crunches, just about 2 sets of 15 twice a week, workl them everyday and you will see less progress as the muscles need to rest for a good 3-4 days to grow inbetween after a workout the muscles seriousy need some protein to grow, so get yourself a tub of whey protein.

    no hold on to something and lift your legs towards your self and back out whilst keeping your tummy tense.

    i recomend getting some weights and a ball there are loads of vieos on youtube how to use a ball well

    good advice

    you have to get up and do stuff other than just crunches, you need to lose the weight. Crunches will tone the muscles underneath once you have lost the weight, get running, swimming or cycling. Just make sure your enjoying it

    yep using a medicine ball or weights is good... you need to also cycle your legs in the air to get your lower abs and also put both legs together and just hold them above the ground... then spread them out and bring them back in again... kills but perfect way to a six pack.

    losing weight should only be done at the end. most people DONT have perfect abs or even good ones under fat. that is a myth.

    if your 19 im sure you could muster up a few miles, just go out and see what you can do, take it slow and then take it from there. I dont think there is a sure amount of distance that will make you loose weight. just eat healthly and just some general excercise regularly and you should see some difference.

    you need to lose weight and reduce body fat
    above poster is right most people have good defined bodys but the fat here and there covers it, if u tense and feel your stomach it might be hard but cant see it cause excess fatty is there

    As said already in the thread..... its weight loss that tones a stomach not crunches!

    You cant tone a muscle imo (some argue u can thats up to them) all you can doo is make that muscle bigger and stronger by working it til it breaks and repairs itself, its the fat around the muscle that you want rid of

    I like those sort of documentary things, anyone link me to any others?
    Where they were big or whatever, and went down to getting a great body.

    I have got DVD,s on how to train every muscle in your body abot 6 DVD's but need gym for them!! Or can work something out at home?????

    Good suggestion, i vary my cardio between days of high interval and steady state, steady state apparantly loses the least muscle mass so i do that more, but these days reports vary every other month on whats best so i switch between both
