Brush your teeth?

I've had it (toothache) since the 23rd, got dentist appointment on Thursday at 09.50hrs. Counting down those hours like...

Only booze I have is cold so that would make me feel worse!

Just tried rubbing some tootpaste into my teeth and its gone down a bit, still a bit sore

keep swilling your mouth with warm salt water, might not be nice but it will cure the abcess you probably have on your tooth nerve. Sometimes Bonjella works. failing all else, just get pissed! :P

oil of cloves.

also if you've got any cream for 'piles'...rub it on your gums.

Pile cream .. eghh. lol!

Bonjela might help a bit, but as said before clove oil is good, if you can find somewhere open in the morning you could buy a temporary filling kit. Hope you are feeling better soon toothache is terrible ((hugs))

I am trying the warm salty water(sounds rude) the worst of the pain is gone though it still feels like when you eat ice cream i.e stings a bit.

Jump an Easyjet plane to Bulgaria tomorrow morning , get treatment , come back home , or ,

get smashed on a bottle of Scotch .

Both deals cost the same !!

Man, i'm glad I read your post, I was just putting on my shoes to nip out to a gay bar.

I will try your way 1st.

place a hot water bottle on your pillow when you retire and sleep on it.
in the morning ask family, friends or neighbours if they have 'clove oil'...it will work.

I've been on a cocktail of Ibroprufen and paracetomol for days now.

Morrisons will only sell two packets at a time, I nearly waited outside and asked someone to go in and buy some for me like a Hollywood star hooked on painkillers.:-(

ONLY!!!

I've heard the screams when women have babies, like women haven't been having babies for thousands of years. I bet they didn't scream so much when it was put in there. ;-)

There should be an emergency telephone number on the message machine of your dentist - follow the message - it should put you in touch with a dentist doing the emergencies in the area - he will have access to a surgery and can pull the tooth or go to A & E as suggested

I did the former several years ago (and it was an 80 mile round trip) the dentist had access to a surgery near his home whereas his own surgery was in my hometown, a new filling I'd had done previously (and by another dentist) had an infection the filling was removed to relieve the pressure - things may have changed though - but you shouldn't have to suffer

By the way - mine was done at 7.00pm on a Friday after phoning at 5.30pm Friday

Maybe in yours.

I can remember walking the mile and a half to A&E on New years day a few years ago, all they did was give me some medication.

I don't want it pulled.

Its a bit better today, its been coming and going for months, and more and more of the tooth keeps rotting despite me brushing twice a day, though I do drink a lot of soft drinks though.

Went to bed at 1am last night and had a good nights sleep so it was good for that for once.

Wil go into town tommorow and buy ibroprofen as I have a job interview anyway

sure what ever floats ur boat

Well for future reference, always keep a bottle of clove oil in your medicine cabinet (get it from Boots). Cheapest way to get painkillers is Sainsburys Pharmacy if you have one locally. I buy boxes of 96 Ibuprofen for about £1.60 a pop. They don't even bat an eyelid. Boots will charge you about £6-7 for the same thing :? If you really must use Paracetamol (and I avoid it as much as I can), try to go for a para/codiene mix as it's more effective on teeth. Still not as good as Ibu though imho.

For temporary relief, get some mouth wash and keep it in your mouth for as long as possible. Bloody hard to do with the likes of Listerine as it burns like hell. For that reason, try to source Corsodyl. It's a strong anti septic (Chlorohexadrine or something) and works pretty well. Does leave the teeth and tongue feeling a bit furry though  Failing that mix up a few tablespoons of Bicarb of Soda in some warm water.... Disgusting and tastes like manky fish (Solphadiene like) , but can have beneficial effects ;-)

Another real old cure is to get whisky on to the tooth, and leave it on the tooth for a while.

Serious post.

Yes, I can confirm the whisky treatment does work - my Hubby has tried that one and it numbs it if you hold it over the affected area.

Went to town today got some ibroprofen, worked a little but still have pain on and off, but I noticed strangely if I rub toothpaste into the tooth and the gum around it, it numbs the pain for about 15-20 minutes.

Think it stops working cause the toothpaste rubs off.

Oil of Cloves, works every time, it numbs it, it tastes bad at first but it works a treat.
