TopCashBack Offering £200 on 02 12-Month Sim-Only Plans Tuesday 5pm to Midnight Wed

    Banned
"From 5pm on Tuesday until midnight on Wednesday, O2 will be offering Top CashBack members a whopping £200 cashback for a 12 month Simplicity Sim only deal. Wow!

That means that 1200 minutes and unlimited texts could be yours for as little as £8.33 a month after cashback."

Sounds like an excellent deal to me , I got £100 cashback around 6 months ago and thought that was cheap enough! Thought a heads-up was in order, even if it's not considered a "deal" yet.

is this ANY sim only tariff?

    probably £25 a month one.

    probably £25 a month one.

Sounds right. The quoted amount of £8.33 would be the effective cost of a £25 pm tarriff.

Definatly the £25 tarriff. Quidco did something similar recently

Where did you get the info from?

    Not saying its not true

was going to go for the £20 a month tariff with £100 cashback but now Il think il wait for this offer.
£8.33 a month is a great price, then after the 12 months il simply switch to the £15 a month tariff

    Starts after 5pm

you dont need to i dropped mine after about 9 months

great thanks, is 9 months the minimum then before you can drop to a lower tariff?

It should get automatically tracked then validated and eventually paid into your designated bank account when you set up your topcashback account. If not tracked you have to set up a query with them as to to why not.

It may take a while to be paid out though and it's not 100% guaranteed to be paid at all.

 what would be the reason for not getting paid?

But i have been reading around and most people don't seem to have a problem with them.

It doesn't always track for some reason, I had 2 in the last o2 quidco that haven't tracked which I will have to raise a query with.

Al I am saying is that it is not 100% guaranteed you will get paid out. (although in all reality you will.....eventually)

    dcx_badass;8245992

Do I use it exactly the same as quidco yeah?

yeh almost, except you DONT pay £5 admin fee. Ive never understood why people on here love quidco so much. even if quidco offer higher rate you can claim that on topcashback.

Yeh, i'm in the same boat. From the previous deal through quidco i dont think so but cant be sure. I'll email them and post the reply.

Yup. Also with Quidco you enter your bank account details and they pay you automatically whereas with TCB you enter your bank account details and you have to withdraw the payments manually. You can also choose to have it paid into your PayPal account or be paid in Amazon vouchers with TCB.

Yes that's the right one. However it used to mention in the small print that the smartphone Simplicty came with a free wi-fi bolt on (The Cloud / BT Openzone) but i can't seem to find it anymore.

The iPhone Simplicity is EXACTLY the same as the smartphone Simplicity (same amount of minutes, texts plus web bolt on) but clearly states that it comes with the wi-fi bolt on and works perfectly well in smartphones. I will be ordering the iPhone Simplicity for my Nokia 5800 just to be doubley sure of having the wi-fi bolt on.

Having checked with o2, they confirm the wifi and web wont work from the iphone sim in any card other than an i phone, whether smartphone or not.

quick question. i'm already on o2 with one of those 30 day rolling contracts. if i get this deal can i port my existing number onto this new contract ? thanks.

That's funny because I'm pretty sure others from this forum have ordered the iPhone Simplicity and it had worked in non-iPhones.......

I'd be inclined to take what they say about the web features not working in a non-iPhone with a pinch of salt altough I acknowledge what badass says about the wi-fi getting switched off if the sim is not in an iPhone as I've heard of this happening with people buying the PAYG iPhone sims off eBay and using them in dongles.

Did they say whether the smartphone Simplicity came with wi-fi or not? It would be pretty unfair if it didn't as we're paying just as much as iPhone customers and it's not as if iPhones are the only phones on the market that have wi-fi is it?

    dcx_badass;8247722

No, it was a quick call from customer services, i wasnt too convinced but im sure others on the previous quidco forum said they did the same thing and after 3 or 4 months o2 cancelled the sim. If you can say for defo otherwise i'd happily go for the iphone sim to put in my smart phone.

I've just had a look at the t&c's on the O2 site and the only bit that refers to them removing the web and wifi access on iPhone sims is for the PAYG iPhone sims were they suspect the user has been using them in a non-iPhone device (after having attempted to contact the customer first) which I suppose is fair do's as you get the sim free with the iPhone and they are just trying to clamp down on people flogging them on eBay.

    t&c's here:

Twelve Months of included O2 Web & Wi-Fi Bolt On for new iPhone … Twelve Months of included O2 Web & Wi-Fi Bolt On for new iPhone Pay & Go customers4. The twelve months of inclusive O2 Web & Wi-Fi Bolt On only applies if the customer continues to use their dedicated iPhone SIM in the iPhone. If O2 reasonably suspects that the customer has removed the dedicated iPhone SIM from the iPhone and is using it in an alternative device or are not acting in accordance with the terms of this promotion, O2 reserves the right to impose further charges or disconnect the O2 Web & Wi-Fi Bolt On at any time, having attempted to contact the customer first.

There's no mention of this policy appyling to contract or sim only contract iPhone sims. The bit about them suspecting customes of using them in "alternative devices" proves to me they know the web and wifi on iPhone sims work in other phones.

You can just order the 12 month Simplicity sim while you're still on 30 day Simplicity. When the new sim comes ring them up and port the number direct from the 30 day sim to the 12 month sim. That's what I did. No messing around with going on PAYG. The 30 day contract will immediately terminate after the number has been ported, you will be refunded for the remainder of the month and not have to fulfill the 30 days notice.

The smartphone tariffs won't let you add a mobile broadband bolt-on, does this mean you are officially allowed to tether your phone as a modem?

Also, can you downgrade to the 10 pound sim after 9 months or can you only go down 1 step?

Hi guys, I mentioned this on a similar MSE thread and someone from the site has confirmed:

"The offer is available to anyone (even existing o2 customers) signing up to a NEW contract via Topcashback's link.

Topcashback has confirmed the £25/month iPhone and Smartphone packages do qualify (even though it says £20 + £5 data for the latter on the o2 site - it still has a £25 monthly cost). Topcashback is asking o2 if it can do anything to make this clearer on its site."

Ah, and subsequently, Topcashback have now changed the details on their page to reflect this. Aces.

how long before you can downgrade on these

It says its for the smartphones like blackberry or iphones... do i have to own an iphone to use that sim or can i use it in any standard phone??

    cheers for the help

    found this in the terms:
5.16 If you are a Consumer Customer who has selected a tariff with a Minimum Period, you may not move to a tariff which offers a lower rate monthly
subscription for the first 9 months of your Minimum Period. After 9 months, you may only move down one tariff, per month, to the next lower priced
tariff unless you pay us the difference between the monthly subscription on your original tariff and the lower rate tariff we agree that you may move to.
Where you have notified us you wish to move to the next lower tariff, unless we advise otherwise, your new tariff will commence at the start of your next billing cycyle.

so effectively month 9 you can move down to £20 then month 10 £15. if you do this you can save £25 and make it £7.50 a month. I will be as long as I can remember when these months are!

Anybodys' tracked yet, i've had the confirmation and dispatch email from o2 but as yet no sign of tracking.

mines tracked but only at £25 so far. they did say it would be uplifted before coming payable.
disappointed with o2 taking so long to dispatch though!
