Toshiba RV753 series TV - any feedback or reviews?

Found 31st May 2010
Seen this at £550 in Comet with free Sony picture frame. With a bit of wheeling/dealing:

£550
- £27.50 (5% voucher code (5199AW))
- £50 (rough price in selling picture frame)
- £62 (lay England at 8 to take advantage of Toshiba refund promo, £65 stake, £62 either way regardless if England win world cup or not)
- £20.90 (4% cashback at topcashback)

=£389.60

Can't find any reviews though! Does anyone have experience with this range of TVs, or able to find any reviews?

Thanks.

I can't find any reviews neither, but I saw a post from few days ago on avforums that says its a good set.

Sod it, bought it anyway! It's nice, just need some decent HD input to test it out. It does come with freeview HD built in, and picked up the signals easily enough, but currently showing mary poppings and other rubbish gubbins that's been upscaled. Will whack the PS3 on it later. SD looks good generally though! Nice looks as well. Well worth the money.

Anyone want a sony photo frame? :P

This is probably a better deal than half of the deals on TVs on here. Is it worth putting up as a deal?

Hi,

Also bought one of these sets 40RV753, we are not yet in a Freeview HD area, so cannot test the Freeview HD reception, but the manual doesn't mention Freeview HD anywhere, does yours ? (unfortunately the delivery man threw away the box after he unpacked it. so we can't check there) just want to make sure we got the right one !

Can't find mention of Freeview HD anywhere in the manual, even the specs at the back of the small manual don't mention DVB-T2 reception only DVB-T, just wanted to see if your manual also doesn't mention it.

Thanks

Ian

The manual isn't great, it doesn't mention the freeview HD or DLNA features. But it is there, I receive BBC HD, ITV HD, C4 HD, and it's specifically mentioned on the Toshiba website.

Thanks, thats good news, its a lovely set

anyone tried gaming on this set? how was it?

Back England to NOT win the world Cup at 8/1 - £65 stake. If England DONT win it you get £130 back, so you win £65.

By the way, is the DLNA any good on this?

It's quite good in that it categorises things so makes it easier to browse through. However I've had a few probs in getting transcoding working properly, but its more down to a lack of windows 7 (I wish microsoft would release WMP12 for vista!) than the tv.

cant find this on topcashback. can anyone help?

anyone?

and where can i put the bet on, is it still the same odds with ferdinand now out?

Not sure - they state something like they will accept all TVs ordered before a certain date I think, read through the T&Cs.

cashback has been reduced now, only 3% on various cashback sites (use comet cashback liniks for click & collect or whichever service you're buying through).

England are now 8.8 - you need to use betfair to lay them (which is the pink box rather than the blue box on the site - you'll need £400 or so spare to tie up for a month to do so). If you don't have a betfair account, then use quidco to join up (£40 cashback) and also use a refer a friend code when you join. If you use mine I'll give you £15 through paypal of the £25 I think I would receive or use the various people on moneysavingexpert referrals forum. At 8.8 you stake £59.71 as a lay for £56.75 either way.

As for 24p you need to make your own decision (go and see the tv in action or whatever), but personally I'm thrilled with the picture on this TV.

im trying to put the comet discount code 5199AW, it seems to have expired, does anyone have a new code?

up... before i have to buy without code

Have a look at voucher sites, there was another code for 6% off, not sure on expiry date.
