    Traditional Italian Lasagna?

    Morning All

    An Italian friend cooked me a lasagna over the weekend which was absolutely gorgeous, BUT..they will not part with the recipe!

    Is there anyone out there who knows the recipe, or who can help please.

    It was different to how I usually do a lasagna, as it contained small home made meatballs, thin slices pancetta, hard boiled egg, and some stewed steak..within the layers of pasta and tomato based sauce. It was also topped with a nice light smokey cheese!

    Also, what is bests for lasagne - the dried sheets (egg or wheat) or fresh pasta sheets?

    Any assistance required!

    OP just add the same ingredients as you friends used & I would suggest adding some red wine to it.
    When cooking lasagne in the oven I would cover it with a lid & then with 5-10 mins to go add your chesses & cook for the final 5-10 mins without a lid until lasagne is slightly firm.

    Hi Susanemily - I have cooked that recipe before and love it.

    I think the difference is that this was not the standard bolognaise sauce, and had small meatballs, steak, egg and pancetta between the layers of pasta, which made it quite different! and very tasty! All I know is they said it was from Southern Italy..and wont part with any secrets of the recipe lol! which is frustrating for me (",)

    Looks and sounds very good! think I will try it too and see how it turns out!

    Thank you for your help! If this does not work or tatste similar, think I will have to find ways of getting persuading friend to part with the recipe lol!
