    Transferring mobile number from old 3 contract to new 3 contract

    Just got off the phone with some random support guy from 3, and he says that, when transferring phone numbers internally (as opposed to between different providers), 40% of the time they cannot do it. Changing providers isn't a hassle, but changing internally can't be guaranteed.

    Is this true?

    yes its true due to ofcom rules....you need to port to another network then port back to 3.

    I changed orange to orange twice (different phones) in the last month, and have had no problems with either.....both ported in around 3-4 hours

    If you ask for your original number to be made in to a PAYG they can then transfer it to a contract, because they are on 2 seperate systems
