Have you tried going through Macmillan? They can direct you to specialist insurers. Also you could look for a policy that will cover everything except anything cancer related, but going go the States could make this a risky choice.
Thanks ive looked on macmillan website ,and tried the insurance companys on their .The insurance companys seem to treat you that you still have cancer .
have you asked the insurer to exclude cancer from the cover or are you looking to have this still covered?
My partner had cancer and I added them to my Natwest world wide annual travel policy ( part of platinum account benefits) additional cost because of the cancer is about £100 a year not really changed and in the 4 years since his cancer. Might be worth checking with your bank to see if they have a similar policy.

Prior to me checking if I could add him, he had also been getting silly prices for single trip cover.
Iam looking to cover everything ,i think if you have had lung cancer it seems very difficult to get cheapish insurance .

any sort of pre-existing medical condition will mean very expensive insurance if you want it included. try ERV and Staysure. I used them for family members who have health issues. I don't think they will be cheap though.
My Mrs had cancer last year, our insurance is with a bank account. We asked how it effects the travel insurance and where told she is covered but not for things relating to the condidtion, which for us was fine.
If the cancer resurfaces it's unlikely it'll stop your holiday isn't it? so as long as you can confirm you are protected for normal events you shouldn't have a problem. Best of luck anyway.
I'd had worldwide travel insurance with holidaysafe.co.uk/ for 5 months or so into a yearly policy. I let them know I had cancer (removed and all ok) and they were happy to continue my cover. The only difference was a policy increase of £57, to £145 for the year (to take me up to May 2018), and an excess increase to £300. I have to contact them again shortly, to let them know that all went well with radiotherapy. I'll need to check again with them on renewal, but hope cover will be similar. I hope this helps.
I have kidney stone problems and LV accepted them during an annual policy without increasing the cover and renewed the annual policy twice.
