travel to LA in October 2017 - advice

    Hey!

Travelled to LA last summer for 2 weeks and fell in love with the place. Me and mrs looking to go back again this October but after trumps travel ban we are thinking otherwise. We are british asian and our religious beliefs are of islamic belief.

First time around i got stopped in heathrow customs and got bagged searched, upon landing in LAX i got taken to a room in the airport and customs officer asked me various questions which lasted about 40mins. Which is fine, i completely understand and answered all questions without a hassle, in fact me and the us customs officer were having a laugh towards end of interview bless him such a nice guy. Im thinking if me and mrs should go in october or leave it out? I am completely taken at the fact that i want to go back. Looking forward to responses. Many thanks ladies and gents. Btw im 25.

I was stopped in Orlando as I was going to meet my wife there, this was before all that happened in the states. I was interviewed for an hour and half asking why I had gone to this country, for how long, why did i go or that long, how much money do i have, how much savings do i have (aparently 7 grand at the time) was not enough to warrant a holiday for 9 days even though hotel and park tickets were already paid for prior. The interviewer asked what was on my camera and camcorder, he even looked at it. Asked my I had photos in my suitcase (I was going to give them to her as she left a load in London)

I think regardless people will always be questioned and it probably will continue to happen. I'm sure plenty of muslims visit the states and are hassled including non muslims so i dont believe it should put you off. Quite frankly they want to make the country safe and we as visitors are obliged to follow their rules.

They asked exactly those questions to me also, asked what my parents names are, where i live what i work as etc etc and i answered all without any hassle or questioning back its part of their protocol which i understand and am fine with. I realised out of 300+ people?? On same flight as me...i was the only one to be questioned. Was thrilled to come out the airport and enjoy my holiday...absolutely loved it. I really want to go back in October but after trumps ban i feel i will be turned away or it will be more difficult. I agree with you as visitors we are obliged to follow their rules, which is why i didnt make a scene or didnt want to make a scene...just done as they said and spoke when spoken to.
