Travelling North East to London Saturday 23rd to Monday 25th

Found 21st May 2009
Looking to go to London this Saturday 23rd and come back Monday 25th.
Travelling via Darlington to London return. 2 adults 1child.
Looks like a family railcard is the way to go but can anyone find any better deals than around £180 to £200 all in.
Just the travel part needed as accommodation is sorted. Would coach travel be a comfortable alternative?
Any help appreciated.

Looks like bargain rail travel is harder to come by these days....

If it's not too late - go from Northallerton with Grand Central for £98.15 return with Family Railcard. Out tomorrow at 0806 and getting back on Monday at 1915.

Or from Eaglescliffe for £101.15 leaving at 0745 returning at 1933.

It's a standard offpeak so no advance purchase necessary, buy at the station.

Or on the train - there's no penalty fares with this operator.
