Trojan Horse PSW.Generic6.AQPD

Hiya,

My parents' laptop has AVG antivirus protection on it, and it's reporting a Trojan Horse everytime you navigate to a new webpage.

I'm not sure what to do, as when I choose either Heal or Move to Vault, it says this could cause system unstability and make the system crash.

I'm going to back up the files and folders they have from the system, but was wondering if someone might be able to advise whether I can safely Heal this file?

The details are below:

Trojan Horse PSw.Generic6.AQPD

C:Windows System32 Macromed Flash flashutil10.exe

C:Windows Systems32 svchost.exe

Many thanks for your help,

Disconnect from Internet, put it in the Vault, then delete it from there. It wont cause problems. Restart you computer after this. Might be worth doing a System Restore too.

Yep, best thing is to move it into vault

then go to

Tools>Virus Vault>Select Virus>delete

Make sure you do a FULL system scan after deleting, change the settings (under computer scanner) to "slow scan" and select all system folders.

Just about to add this detail. Thanks.

Thanks for your help...

So, I'm okay to Move to Vault, even though it tells me this could make the system unstable?

AH thanks a lot, you guys - knew you'd be able to help

I'll back up all their important stuff first, just to be sure, and then just go for it... wonder how that's managed to get on there?

The latter appears to be a system file but if you look closely you'll see it's not, Systems32 v. System32.

Have you downloaded anything recently?

I advise you to install Mcafee siteadvisor as it warns you when you go on a dodgy site

It's my parents', so not sure what they've downloaded lately, but it's just used for the odd bit of web browsing, really...

They have the site advisor up and running already (the one with AVG, though), and my dad only goes on bog-standard websites.

Very strange... can't find much about it on the web either - someone says they got it when browsing ebay, and someone else when they updated Macromedia Flash.

Can't make head nor tail out of that, lol! But that's the first thing I did, update AVG... unless they've made another update in the meantime?

They said the issue has been fixed, but they have removed/changed the link :-(

Issue seems solved with latest database update (270.9.3/1788).

Just done a few more searches about it, and apparantly its a 'False positive'... Looks like I can either add it to the AVGs ignore section, or wait for AVg to release a new update...

Yey!

Thanks again, all!
