Trump out to carve up Palestine in pizza slices for Israel by appointing his Son in law to negotiate peace. Scandalous nepotism.

    Banned
This is plain taking the mickey out of Palestine. He's just a yes man puppet for Netanyahu to control in such a biased ploy in which history has no equal IMO.

"Donald Trump’s proposed new point man on the Middle East peace process, his 36-year-old son-in-law Jared Kushner, is almost unknown to Israeli business and political figures and an even greater mystery to Palestinians, as well as a diplomatic neophyte.

Trump’s insistence on pushing the untried Kushner into such an important and difficult role comes at a historic low point in the moribund peace process.

Trump has claimed in interviews that Kushner could succeed where other more experienced peace negotiators have failed. He has said Kushner, the husband of Ivanka Trump and an Orthodox Jew who is the grandson of Holocaust survivors, “knows the region, knows the people, knows the players”.

Trump names son-in-law Jared Kushner as senior adviser, testing anti-nepotism law

But the reality appears to be somewhat different. It has emerged that the only previous encounter Kushner – who was raised in a family that owes its wealth to real estate speculation – has had with Israel’s prime minister was when he was a child and Benjamin Netanyahu visited his father.

Indeed, Kushner’s only other significant contact with a senior Israeli politician before last year appears to have been with the mayor of Jerusalem, Nir Barkat. Kushner does, however, appear to be familiar with wealthy rightwing US Jewish figures who back Israel.

Kushner’s views on the issue are believed to be reflected in his contribution to a speech Trump delivered to a pro-Israel lobby group, the American Israel Public Affairs Committee, in the spring. It included a promise to challenge Iran and to move the US embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem.

Despite Trump’s enthusiasm for Kushner, he will have to navigate a US anti-nepotism law that states a public official “may not appoint, employ, promote, advance, or advocate for appointment … any individual who is a relative of the public official”.

Amid a highly uncharacteristic silence from senior Israeli political figures over Trump’s repeated insistence that Kushner will be at the helm of US Middle East policy, Trump himself appears to have struggled in recent interviews to explain why he thinks Kushner is qualified for the job, besides the fact he likes him."

Sorry Aiden, felt sad for Palestinians today. I condemn their terrorist attacks against Israel and Israel's state sponsored terrorism against them. But if you look at this simply - a US president decides to give the job to his 36 year old nephew, who's only "experience" was meeting Netanyahu when he was a kid. He's a puppet. A mere token gesture. A fully compliant tool to further Israel's agenda. Nothing more. It's a farce. A whitewash. There is not much to smile about when such **** is being taken on the world stage.

You do realize that Trump isn't a politician ?. Are you totally against anyone having a career change?. If you're not, how do you try something new in life?. I think we need to give chances before calling anyone out as unqualified. I know some unqualified persons that do their job better than the fully qualified person.

Rather Trump than May. She lost lots of respect points this month by announcing further NHS cuts, then following up with a 7 day GP system. How the hell she expect that to be funded? Spit and sticky tape!?
I had hopes when she took over from Cameron, "it cant get any worse, surely" I thought. Unfortunately, she is on the same path that Cameron was on, living in fantasy land - taking all the money away and expecting everything to be fine.

Trump was elected by the people without qualifications. Kushner was elected by Trump without qualifications. Pretty similar.

I hope that common sense plays a part?. Hopefully he has that? maybe he does, maybe he doesn't.

understood luke, if this was a student project for a college somewhere, this guy might be suitable. Not in the real world as a real bonfide choice, without any experience to back him up except when he was a kid, Netanhyahu came to his house for dinner.
This is a very biased, anti palestinian appointment, calculated to give Israel unfair advantage at the conference table.

Ask yourself this if he presented his CV for application for the role, would he get it? You know he wouldn't even get called for interview so it's clear he is not qualified for the job, no one likes nepotism makes America like saudi arabia or them despots in some areas of Africa. No surprise about Kushner..as for US anti-nepotism law that states a public official “may not appoint, employ, promote, advance, or advocate for appointment … any individual who is a relative of the public official”, remember Clinton and travelgate?
The US, like a lot of the EU countries, treat the law like a picknmix. It's only the UK who obey all the rules ALL of the time.

I condemn the Israeli apartheid of Palestine, its state sponsored terrorism against Palestine. I condemn IS, Palestinian, Hamas terrorism against anyone, including Israel. There is no violence that works or which can be sustained from which a lasting peace can be attained. It only fuels hatred from both sides. What's needed here is a negotiated peace, for both sides to disarm, then legally renounce violence and recognise agreed borders.

Also, if the shoe was in the other foot with Palestine having an iron dome, a legal army, $38 Billion in aid and were it occupying Israel and creating apartheid for those living there....would you be calling Israeli suicide attacks against Palestine in that situation "terrorism"or in some way "justified"?

You either renounce both or none. Otherwise it's bigotry of the highest order. Maybe you're better than that?

You cannot disarm whilst Hamas fire rockets and build terror tunnels.

The state of Israel exists and Jews in Israel predate the Palestinian argument.

In the Land of Israel, which was renamed Syria Palaestina after the Roman suppression and expulsion of the indigenous Jewish inhabitants in 135 CE, some Jewish communities remained on their lands and in their cities for hundreds of years. Even Arab writer Muqaddasi complained in 985 CE that “the Jews constitute the majority of Jerusalem's population.”

The Jews, the last people to hold sovereignty and independence in the land, were subsequently harassed and unequally treated by a series of Roman, Byzantine and Muslim conquerors, whether Fatimid, Ayyubid, Mamluk or Ottoman.

Still, the Jewish presence never disappeared.

Jewish holy sites, like the Cave of the Patriarchs and Rachel’s Tomb, were built over with mosques, and with the imposition of a new Islamic religious and cultural imperialism, Jews were given limited or no rights of worship.

When many Jews started returning to their ancestral land in the late 19th and early 20th centuries after an extremely difficult dispersion, they never sought to disrupt or disturb those whose ancestors had conquered and occupied the territory while they were in their long exile.

Unfortunately, today, in most people’s view of the conflict between Israel and the Palestinians — a self-identity barely two generations old — the colonized have become the colonizers and the role of the native Jewish population turned upside down.

Dave, you have to forget about History and Hate, if you want Israelis and their neighbours to live in peace. You have to be pragmatic on both sides. See IRA when it gave up guns and legitimised under an amnesty. Same should apply here.
