Trying to find out if my daughter the right weight for her height

I have a 7 year old, shes approx 130cm and is 4 stone 10 lbs. Shes slim although has a bit of a bloated tummy. Been looking at the height/weight charts online but cant work it out. My daughter is tall for her age, but wanted to check if she is the right weight. Thanks

Just found this government website which works it out for you

Did you not get the red book when she was born with the height and weight centiles in the back?

    Thanks for the replies.

I jsut found this website nhs.uk/Too…spx which caluclated it. She is the right weight/height and is in the 79th percentile.

I think the slight tummy is quite normal at her age so dont worry about that just get her overall weight against height checked. My son had a bit of a tummy at that age which went by the time he was about 9. He is now very slim so it wasnt a problem.

I believe there are one or two internet sites where you can put height and weight in but just make sure they are reputable sites.

Im gonna check too, my daughter seems underweight!

My daughter does suffer from constipation and I think this is why she has the bloated tummy. Shes on laxatives and has been for over 4 years now

they are only a guide really anyway, my daughter in 79th percentile which is near the obese range but shes slim as well. They all develop at diffent rates, my daughter very tall and she may even be a bit taller than when I measure her 3 weeks ago

I think you will all drive your children to weight disorders if you continually worry about your childrens weight.

If they look well, play well, work well at school and have general good health; then I wouldn't be worrying about weight.

I'm not worried - just had a peek as the link was there.
Think it would make some people worry over nothing though!

totally agree, cant even remember when my kids where last weighed, think son was 3 years ago and daughter havent got a clue, i have no reason to even think why i would need to weight them

A good tip from me is to throw the scales away - i was getting obsessed weighing myself like 3 times a day!

Chucked them in the bin and have no desire to weigh myself at all

LOL, if we all were achieving statistics and meeting suggested do's/don't, we would be a very boring, unhappy breed!

As long as you're happy - thats my motto.

Obviously if your looking seriously underweight/overweight then you should be concerned - same for your children.

my son is 7 and weighs 3 stone, on wii fit it says he's ideal, my daughter is 4 and weighs 2 stone, wii fit says she is underweight, but she eats like a pig...

you son is 7 and weighs 3 stone? How tall is he? My daughter 7 but she is 4 stone 10lbs. Shes 130cm tall

My eldest daughter is 7 (8 in April), 130cm tall and weighs around 4½ stone I think. As long as you know your child eats relatively healthy and isn't poorly all the time then I shouldn't worry about it too much. A friend of mine got upset about her now 3yr old as when she was 2, the health visitor told her mum that she would probably be quite short when she's older (nice and tactful) which is a total load of cack because you can't tell from your child now what they'll be like when they grow up, just live for now and leave them to it, DON'T let them get a complex about their weight.

I was a short-**** and nicely chunky until I started secondary school and then I shot up to 5'8" really quickly and never went out, spent ALL of my teenage years and ever since (I'm now 36) trying to defend my weight and convince people that I DO eat, this is just my build (and why do people find it OK to ask why I'm so thin, would they say to a bigger person, why are you so fat?)

I've also known people who have done the opposite and been one of the chunkiest, tallest, thinest in primary school, only to lose weight, strop growing or put on weight at secondary school, so back to my point is that all can change very quickly so just make sure your kids are happy and don't give a s**t about their weight (unless they are quite obviously obese which is a different subject entirely).

Hope I haven't ranted TOO much!!!
