    Turn Internet off for flying?

Hi taking my new netbook on holiday. Does anyone know if there is a way that the internet can be turned off so that i dont accidentally hit the button by mistake. I thought there might be a flight mode to turn on but cant find anything in the help search.
It is a Samsung N220 and i have windows 7 starter on it
    Thank you.

Have you not got a switch to enable wifi to terminate internet access, maybe on front or side of computer?

Why??? Unless you a simcard inside it why would it matter?

Airlines say these days that anything that transmits via wireless can not be used....even thou everyone does!

OP disable the wireless device in the device manager just to make sure.

go to network connections in CP, right click disable

Uncontrolled radio transmissions in a controlled environment are indeed a potential risk to safety. Surely you must have heard a mobile interfering with a radio or your computer, do you know what effect your device will have on the aircraft component you might be sitting close to?

Airlines expect passengers to behave responsibly and follow simple rules, like not carrying thermometers and restricting the use of electrical devices, we all realise that the risk of any thing happening if you break these rules is slight, but that is no reason to ignore them.

Do you think if there was even the smallest possibility that it would affect the plane that they would let you have it inboard? It's just scaremongering. Oh look, another plane had crashed killing hundreds because someone left his iPhone on. Uh, nope.

Yeah it will not ever affect the plane, the only way it can affect it is if you are using it in the cockpit, as it may cause electromagnetic interference with the instruments.

You can use your mobile/laptop on private flights.

Still a plane, still using a radio etc

Rules are made to be broken especially when they are stupid.

Yeh they allow them on some flights now. And not everyone turns everything off. Never heard a plane going down because of the radio signals of a mobile or laptop.

I'm not going to ask why or how you know this information or what you'd like to use it for.

Basic facts. Just like if you put a phone next to a speaker.

What i meant was, that's how you can hear the electromagnetic interference. But when you put a phone next to navigational equipment for example, you cannot hear the interference, but it may cause unknown disruptions to it's performance.

Just leave it & stop worrying, it wont affect a thing. Never turned my mobile off during any flight I've been on - as soon as you leave the ground, you will lose your network (voice & data) anyway.

And thats why mobiles are a particular problem on aircraft! When out of range of a base station they go into a search mode at maximum power trying to regain contact with the network. The difficulty with RF is that any interference with other equipment is not readily obvious, the risk of an incident is slight but there is a risk. Why would you wish to increase the risk when you could be responsible and eliminate it? Just switch your phone off when the nice lady tells you to?

And thats also why planes just fall out of the sky all the time...
