Hey all

For the last 2y I have not been paying TV licence watching Netflix and kids using Netflix

Lately I have been thinking of moving from BT infinity to another supplier and was looking at sky as they seem to have good discounts and that question how does me not paying tv licence affect this? As I have no intention of paying tv licence

Thank you

You don’t need a licence if you only ever watch on demand or catch up programmes on services other than BBC iPlayer (and you also never watch live TV programmes on any channel, including on iPlayer).

You need a TV Licence to download or watch BBC programmes on iPlayer – live, catch up or on demand. This applies to any device and provider you use, including:

Freeview, Freesat or YouView
Sky, Virgin Media or BT TV
Apple, Roku or Amazon

If any service you use offers live TV streaming option such a Sky GO or Virgin TV Anywhere then you need a licence, also iplayer. That is regardless of whether you use the function. If you don't watch or record live TV you need to fill out a declaration to be exempt.
Even the blind have to pay half price btw.

You won't be exempt if you don't contact the Licencing Authority and fill out a declaration though.

Just move over and don't pay it. I haven't for about 5years

In summary if you watch any form of 'live' TV i.e. not on demand (with the exception of the BBC where you do need a licence) etc. via any service - BT, Sky, Virgin then you do require a TV licence.

So in answer to your question 'how does me not paying tv licence affect this' - you will be required to get a TV licence if you watch any 'live' tv or any of the BBC catch-up services.

Exactly right. All those do gooders downvoting this guy for not giving into the TV license bullys.

Don't contact the tv license people at all, if they turn up just close the door and say nothing, make sure your family knows to do the same. And don't have the TV in view of the window for people walking by to get a good look.

Why are 'we' do gooders for doing the legal and right thing?

I don't have a driving licence but i think i might get a car then.
Or become an Art Therapist, start selling food, move cattle , open an HMO, stage some musical theatre, deal scrap metal and oh if you need a burial at sea wink wink .....
Why bother with any kind of licence then?

I hate paying for one, but its a necessity and its only a few quid so not worth avoiding it for the hassle caused.

In regards to your question, you will need one. Simple as that really.

I move out. Then someone wants money from me for a licence I may or may not need, lol yeah right.

unless the down voters know he is doing something illegal then you ARE. the comment doesnt suggest his doing anything illegal.

Pay mate, that's up to you. Like it's up to me.

I could not care less but you are the one making excuses, if you did not care then you would have no need for excuses.
No salt here.

If you're going to move to sky, and get a sky receiver the basic pack contains all the bbc channels. You'll automatically be receiving them, then will be hard pressed not to have to pay.

I'd stick with your current netflix arrangement if you don't want to pay, though you're watching that on a tv with a tuner, right? £££

The only fair answer is make the BBC a subscription channel.

My £1,400,000 BASIC if you please.

Pay your licence.

Damn you down voters always being negative :p, if there were more positive people the world would be in a better place.

You dont need a sky dish or tv box for sky bb so just move to sky, carry on watching Netflix and no need to pay a licence fee

Sky have a deal that currently works out about £15 per month for 40mbps fibre bb including line rental

I don't pay the TV licence either. Never have, never will. Then again I don't use the TV for anything other than gaming and DVD's. Have no virgin/sky etc

the BBC sells the Graham Norton show world wide and received a revenue stream from it. Not as clear cut as just looking at salaries. If we looked at top gear salaries, they were redic as a stand alone figure, but the BBC made a lot of money selling these shows abroad.

Salaries in isolation is meaningless.
