Hi guys, I want to buy a TV as a gift to someone online and get it delivered to their house. I dont have a TV as I dont need one. Question is if I order on ao.com using my bank card and billing address of course and my friends delivery address, who will get a knock on the door to pay for the TV licence? Thanks

Good question!

Your friends responsabiltity

i had a television deliver to my workplace my workplace got a request to apply for a tv licence i told the tv licence people this was just the delivery address and the tv was going to be shipped abroad end of story.

They will go to the address where the tv was delivered to.

Just make the billing address your name c/o the delivery address.

OP you do NOT need a tv licence to own a TV as long as you do not watch live tv. So you have nothing to worry about

I bought a tv as a gift at Christmas and, for licensing purposes, the store wanted the address of the person who received the gift, not my address.

Booky is correct, although if they do start chasing you, you can ignore them, if they come around you can show them you have no tv.

You dont own a TV yeah right!

Thank you for your answers. Yes I do not have a TV, have not had one for over 5 years and I do not miss it.

No, you won't. Your details are NOT sent to TVL anymore and has not been since June 2013.

And @booky - the store was incorrect in asking for that info for quote; " licensing purposes". They do NOT need that info.

They will send letters to both doors almost certainly, but if you really don't need a licence then whats the problem just let them know again.

I don't have a TV but still never get anything done. oO

I think computers and the internet is the new form of entertainment. My PC replaces my TV for sure.

What you don't realise until you get rid of your TV is that it's all junk advertising and propaganda news. It's laughable!

Your tv licence also pays for radio broadcasts.

And huge bbc salaries, pay offs to higher management and Chris evans
