TV Tuner/Laptop help?

I've just brought the kworld DVB-T 380U usb tv tuner and tried to install it to use Media centre running Vista and every time i scan it find no channels even from the roof aerial which defintely gets all the channels as we have several freeview boxes. I've also been told other people have no problems running this on media centre/vista. Any ideas what i could be doing wrong or how i can get it to find me some channels or else it's going to have to go back?

Is the software set to find UK channels?
Also check other configurations are correct for your region

Have you installed the software CD that came with it? Fully install all of the software, then reboot the PC, THEN plug in the TV tuner.

If this doesn't work, try it on another computer (preferrably one that has WinXP and not vista).

the PC reconised it and install the lastest driver (have checked that on the kworld website) have since tried installing the software that came with it (would like to use it with media centre really) but can't get that to launch?! Unfortunately i don't have another PC to try it on

have you looked on the manufacturers website to see if the software has an update / patch for vista?

try uninstalling & then reinstall without the adapter plugged in (until it asks you to plug it in).

Yeah, the latest driver is for vista which is installed.
Do you mean unstall the whole thing and then put the software on first? (please excuse my lack of understanding of these things)

I meant does the software for watching the TV have an update or patch for vista (this is different from the driver, although the software & driver installation may all be in one file).

Yes I was suggesting that you uninstall everything, and then disconnect the usb adapter. Reboot the PC and reinstall the software from scratch, when the installation program asks you to plug the adapter in, plug it in then (but not before).

If it doesn't ask you to plug it in, just wait for the software to finish installing, then plug it in.

Worth a try, sometimes these USB things malfunction if plugged in too early.

Thanks for that, will have a quick look for any software updates (not sure if it's included all in one or not) and then try reinstalling... see if that does the trick

Cheers.. am not sure what it is i'm afraid
It's a kworld dvb-t 380u tuner and the software seems to be hypermediacentre. The OS is Vista premium 32bit

right iuninstall it all and reboot computer.

then download and install the updated driver from http://www.kworld.com.tw/en/kworld/body/download/Digital/DVB-T380U.htm

that's the file from the manufacturers website, with the ability to work with vista.

also download hypermediacenter from the link i gave you, and install that (not from the cd)

right, uninstalled and downloading the first one..
do i need to install these 2 before plugging the device back in? (presume i need this hypermediacentre thing for it to work in media centre also?)

ps. can't find hypermedia centre on the website?

sorry i think i got the link wrong

go here kworld.com.tw/en/…htm

download the 1st download (driver for vista) and then the 3rd download (HyperMediaCenter)

then install the driver first

only plug in the USB device when asked to do so - if it doesn't tell you to do it during the installation, wait until the end.

then install HyperMediaCenter

I would send it back for a refund...Kworld is not a brand I'd purchase myself..I have a freecom freeview USB stick and it works fine..but I do not have XP media center.

It's going back don't worry! lol I saw a recommendation for it somewhere and saying it worked with Vista, which in all fairness, it does seem to work ok, except that it wont find any channels, which renders it slightly useless lol Will investgate some others i think:)
