Yeah the decorations lose their magic after Christmas Day.

I was itching to take mine down from boxing day morning, managed to leave them till 2nd, and only then as we went away for a couple of days over new year. lol.

That was the most unchristmassy Christmas I've had in years, just couldn't wait for it to be over tbh.

If Wikipedia is to belived it looks like you've only got another three hours to get the decorations down.

"Twelfth Night or Epiphany Eve is a festival in some branches of Christianity marking the coming of the Epiphany, and concluding the Twelve Days of Christmas. It is defined by the Shorter Oxford English Dictionary as "the evening of the fifth of January, preceding Twelfth Day, the eve of the Epiphany, formerly the last day of the Christmas festivities and observed as a time of merrymaking".

The celebration of Epiphany, the adoration of the Magi, is marked in some cultures by the exchange of gifts, and Twelfth Night, as the eve or vigil of Epiphany, takes on a similar significance to Christmas Eve.

A more recent tradition in some English-speaking countries holds that it is unlucky to leave Christmas decorations hanging after Twelfth Night, a belief originally attached to the festival of Candlemas (2 February).[

taking mine down now :?

took mine down today, looks bare:cry::cry:

Never mind about superstition, do what most people seem to do nowadays - get New Year's Day out of the way, then take the damn things down!

It is so wonderful to get the house back to normal again.

We've had the shortest day, the evenings are already a little lighter, so the sooner we can look forward to Spring the better. Get those decorations down on 2 January!!

I thought we were going to get an educational thread about Malvolio. Ahh well.
