Too little, too late...Kremlin backed RT

Twitter is banning two of Russia's biggest media outlets from buying advertising amid fears they attempted to interfere with the 2016 US election.

The ban on advertising from Russia Today (RT) and Sputnik, and all linked accounts, was "effective immediately".

US authorities say both act as "a platform for Kremlin messaging".

The social media giant will donate an estimated $1.9m (£1.4m) made from the outlets into research on Twitter's use in "civic engagement and elections".

i just read a good article on how RT today has used youtube to its adavantage spreading the kremlin line
I can see why they’ve done this, the ruskies are becoming pests when it comes to social media and online news articles when it comes to comments. On some political articles, especially those pertaining to Russia, Ukraine, Eastern Europe and Brexit the comment section is full of obvious Russian Trolls who all seem to talk the same while using quintessential British names.

Like Dave for example...
The West upset that Russia Today continue to expose their BS . Rather trust RT than the constantly lying and manipulating “mainstream media”.

Shame they had great comedy value, bit like flicking between Fox News and Aljazheera.

The scissor sisters?
I had RT on a while ago and noticed they just delivered the news without any attempt to spin what it means. Refreshing to be fair and a marked difference from our mainstream media. Try it out.

I can put up with taking their Russia coverage with a pinch of salt if it means getting the rest of the news without some BBC hack trying to make me feel a certain way, with an incredibly unnatural way of speaking and a tone of voice that is hilarious in its attempt to persude if you sit and take notice

So basically bias is fine as long as it is the right kind? Gotcha
Anyone remember PressTV, the Iranian news channel. RT has a lot to learn from them. I remember watching it not long before it was removed from Satellite in Europe and they were basically making stuff up.

One example was a breaking news story about their Embassy in London being attacked in retaliation for the British Embassy being stormed in Iran – they were going mad but a simple switch to Sky News who, as luck would have it were doing a live report from out side the Embassy showed one lone fed up copper standing guard and no one else.
I actually don't mind RT at least it's a different biased angle than the usual stuff. They also talk alot about stuff you won't hear in UK news and focus on aspects ignore for political reasons on the UK.

They have some really good documentaries on there too.

Quite like watching RT occasionally tbh for an alternative view point.

Its probably much more healthy to take all news with a pinch of salt, preferably using multiple sources and make your own mind up. All the news agencies have an agenda and bias and shouldn't be taken at face value.

A mate of mine who is a dyed in the wool lefty, was so shocked at the Brexit and Trump results, mainly as her social media only contains people who share the same views as her. Hence the shock and many tears when she looked out of her bubble.

I'd agree...echo chambers all over the place hence outrage is the scourge of modern life.
