it wont be back till the 31st of May apparently from what i've read this morning
also this information was featured on the official blog

blog.eu.playstation.com/201…ng/

its gonna take a bit more than that i reckon.

heat added but should be in freebies methinks.

Pointless thread, as the games aren't listed, and not a deal, it's a freebie.

okay kids i'll move! calm down

Xbox Live is brilliant!

this will be per account i assume.

two others share my machine, can we expect to get the full 5 games between us then i wonder?

They will probably be rubbish ones!

Yes, I don't see how they could limit it to two per machine.

You're allowed both.

would it not be per main account?

I am a Qriocity user, and don't have a PS3.
Any mention of any freebies for users like me?

Very old news this announced last week over free games but not.which games and its the network as a whole not expected till the end of May but online gaming before that.

I wouldn't get too excited. These could just be those PlayStation Minis they have.

Im slightly miffed about the sony thang, however my xbox just died (3 red rings) this morning after playing it all of 10 seconds. I bought it in may 2007, and had it repaired once already in dec 2007, now microsoft want £68 to repair it.

Would keep sending some emails until they give in.

I would guess sony would choose 5 out of these games.

Go! Puzzle
Piyotama

It will most likely be SCE games as other devs are not gonna take the hit and extremely unlikely to be Minis.

Remember standard PSN accounts get Free PSN+ for a month and also PSN+ and Qriocity subscribers get refunds for the down time too I believe.

It doesn't surprise me that it is taking this long but the servers are in internal testing which is a good sign although if they find something wrong there will obviously be delays. The worst thing Sony can do is bring it back online just to crash or get hacked again straight away. PS. XBLive has been targeted before and probably will in the future so Xbox users shouldn't get too cocky.

I am guessing also that it is 2 per PSN account. This would seem fairest and I bet it will only work on current PSN accounts so I doubt you can create more new ones and download freebies.

PSN will also force an update and a password change that can only be done from the PS3 the PSN account was signed up with (presume thats only one it was created and exists on).

Whilst this should never have happened I think Sony has handled it as best they can. Delays releasing info etc are fair as they want to be able to announce the correct info not guess work etc. They were waiting on forensics from security firms etc.

Anyway fingers crossed its back soon I am running outa offline single player games after clearing Motorstorm: Apocalyse, Uncharted 2, Portal 1 and Need For Speed: Hot Pursuit.

sounds great, free too!!! (and you don't need to give them your bank details, which incase you have forgotten them will be available to everyone on the web very shortly)

This is a pathetic attempt by Sony to kiss-a*se.

Hope so - quite fancy WipeOut HD and Siren Blood Curse...

I disagree. Free games for 77 million people isn't a pathetic attempt. Also then there's the Identity Theft Protection they are sorting.

Believe me this is costing Sony a lot. Reputation and money. Remember the developers are all stuck too not being able to test PSN functionality or release DLC etc they had planned.

What would you rather Sony do?

Remember also there's no sign of any CC info being used and believe it was encrypted and without the CVC code or expiry info. I am keeping an eye on my CC but even banks aren't advising cancellation of cards.

They won't be Sony top titles, they will be mini games the ones you spend 10 minutes on and get bored.

If they are I will eat my words but Sony would get slated if they did that as most minis only cost £2 or something.

My other guess would be the 5 games which were the least popular to be downloaded (different genres to be taken into account) .

Any free games that I don't own would be fine, just glad they did not just offer/ promoted playstation + as I probably switched on my 360 and paid for live by now

Take into account the amount of PS users (77 million your comment) not all are going to be active on PSN network, i'm not but have an account so will always go after a freebie. But Say 10 million did x £2 that's 20 million pounds worth of sales gone. Doubt there going to give you a £15-20 title as listed above.

How do we go about getting the months free PlayStation+ when PSN is currently not working?

Not sure if this is serious or not...

Ah, just flicked across it as I was reading the thread and didn't appear to be sarcastic

You obviously think that 2 free games is worth your cc details and other personal info, that's fine.
I agree that no cc info has been used (yet) so, why would hackers need this info??? are they lonely and looking for penpals??
This the same company that waited a full week before informing customers of the problem?
It's a joke mate that you can be bought off with 2 games...
And i'm sure everybody's gutted that their reputation has suffered over this..
Anyway, you enjoy your games and keep an eye on dodgy transactions..

Woo hoo!!

This makes up for my identity, passwords and credit card details being stolen by their utter incompetence in lack of any security.

Wait, what?!

lol wut still not fixed? no wonder my friends havent asked me to come on the ps3.

so it's 4 years old yet you till want it repaired free??

To be honest if my CC gets used somewhere not by me then I won't be paying for it anyway.

These things happen. 2 Free Minis would suck and I would be angry if that is all it is but giving £20 of games would not cost Sony £20 in reality.

I don't think it is a case of being "bought off" it is a case of it has happened and Sony is offering all this and Identity Theft Protection to try and say sorry. It won't please everyone but atleast they are trying. It will cost them a fortune as it is.

Whilst I ain't that happy they lost my card details (albeit without the CVC and expiry) I haven't lost anything so far and most of the other identity information could be collected by other legal means anyway. My CC is covered against this and so in the event of it being used at most I will have to wait for a new CC.

Don't get me wrong I ain't justifying that it is OK. I am just saying how I see it. Gotta wait to see what Identity Theft Protection plan is offered but that will be announced soon.

The delay in releasing the info on what was taken would have "mostly" been down to confirming what they thought had been taken and what had been taken. When this happened they called in 2 security firms to assess what had happened and what was taken. To announce ASAP that they "think" XYZ happened would be risky.

Either way PSN should be restored soon for gaming and hopefully no one suffers from the details that were taken in the long run. Just understand this isn't the first time this has happened to a big company and won't be the last... It may well just be the biggest one for a while though.

Seeing as though it's a manufacturers fault that they created yes, also being the second time it's happened damn straight.

If you can find where I said that, I will give my PS3's Wii's and 360 away. Serious.

I have 3 different account, a UK one, a US one and a Japanese one. Can I download 6 different games, two from each region then?

Banned

One per household surely?

Times like these im glad I made 3 UK accounts, 2 US, 1 HK, 1 JAP and 1 AUS.
And id assume theyre gonna giver away good games, remeber they want to persuade people back to PS, ive always been a PS guy and bought an xbox last week over this fiasco.
Wipeout id imagine theyd give out free, gives them a chance to advertise 3d gaming
Pain maybe
Superstar dust

Only problem with only offering to existing accounts- What happens if someone bought a ps3 the day it went down, theyve missed out on online gaming for a month, surely theyd get some compensation?

I think its mainly the fact that they knowingly carried on producing consoles prone to RROD, thats where your case is.

I also emailed microsoft about 2/3 discs of mine being scarcted and unplayable (blue dragon) due to the disc stacking case, hopefully I might be able to get a replacement.

Oops I liked ya comment by accident. (no offense as I meant to click reply hehe)

You may struggle to download from USA and Japan PSN as Sony added checks a while back that you was in the USA (based on your IP) and so blocked access to UK users on USA PSN.

You can, of course, use a proxy server in the USA if this is still the case.
