Corporations who think they can have your internet "cut off" for downloading...hilarious! X)

It does make you wonder... what exactly is the point? It's clearly costing money to orchestrate these emails, but if they're not going to follow it up with any action, it's a waste. Don't get me wrong, I'm kinda glad it won't be followed up, but it does seem a bit of a waste of time / resources.

And don't forget this little nugget..

Because people tech-savvy enough to download movies have no clue where to buy them for real, obviously.

I've filled about 6TB worth of hard drives and I've never got a warning email/letter. Hopefully I can get one now. Need something to frame.

so £3.5m to tory party funds just before the election

People over on torrentfreak have speculated that its just the start.
When it doesnt work they can say they tried and get draconian.

How long is this going on for 2years IIRC?

So download for 2 years then get a paid for vpn

    here is the problem,

I can go on a download site and get myself and 3D 1080p Directors Extended Willy Waving Cut in the Highest Bitrate, With 7.1 True HD/DTS-HD LPCM audio soundtrack in a format that will play across my TV, Tablet, Mobile, Laptop or even Miracast to my mates TV.

    or!!

I can pay £15.99 for a subpar 1080p low bitrate with 5.1 Dolby Digital that plays in a BD player.

The studios need to educate themselves to want consumers want.

    and thats the rub hatori.

Why pay when we can get better for free?

Because the entertainment industry say we have to play by their rules from the 90s
Instead the people think no i have an option to get something better.

That is what the industry doesnt understand, they are not the only option anymore

I've been saying it for years.

Give me something like Netflix+ for £15/month with all the latest TV/movie releases, in high bitrate 1080p/4K, with all the extra features associated with disc-based formats and I wouldn't pirate a single thing.

Not only that. You get exclusives released in different countries that cost a fortune to import and you then need multi region equipment to play it. If you want the guaranteed best of something these days often your only option is to 'steal' it.

This is the problem the studios refuse to address. Intent on charging a fortune to other countries to offer their content. It is getting better with the likes of Netflix etc. But until Netflix can offer the same content in all countries it won't get any of my money.

A streaming or online rental/to keep service that has a full and complete catalogue of content is what's needed. Why don't the studios accept this and get together to create an all-encompassing service at a FAIR PRICE to as many countries as they can. When this happens you'll see piracy start to fall and profits for the studios will rise year on year.

    Until then, viva la HDBits

As long as there are things we can't get here there will be piracy, TV shows only released on dvd here that have a full HD bluray release abroad, video games that don't come out here, old video games you can't buy anymore etc. If they really wanted to end piracy a good start would be to end region locking and stop being so damn greedy.

Who the hell downloads music now? Unless its something really obscure you can't find like videogame soundtracks you just use things like spottify.

It's the closest I've got to the ideal service.

Stupid international price differences **** me off too.

For example the new Weird Al album, Mandatory Fun is $5.99 (£3.50) on Amazon.com but £7.49 on Amazon.co.uk!

We always get ripped off over here hmph!

To the Pirate Bay it is!

All I want to know is what happened at the Rothschild family villa involving David Geffen and the creepiest man in politics that made him in such a rush to push his Digital Economy Act through in the wash-up? It was suspicious then but in light of recent revelations REDACTED REDACTED REDACTED

    Purely Hypothetical!

    VonKlaw

Because this campaign is going to work soooooooo well.

While the "you wouldn't steal" unskippable advert runs in front of the dvd/bluray, all I think about is "I wish I downloaded it so I didn't have to watch this carp"

People don't like being forced to pay what they deem excessive prices for things that they can get for free or for pennies from a bootlegger.

You can never truly stop piracy as its been going on for decades. Since the dawn of the cassette tape recorder and the Top40 airing on radio every Sunday afternoon! Technology has made this even easier to do. Trying to stop downloading is lip service to the grand scheme of things. If someone downloads an encrypted file how are you going to know that the content is copyright protected to someone other than the downloader?

Regardless of the consequences people will attempt to find a way around it. Failing that they will simply stop altogether and keep their money for other activity or items. This results in the movie and music industry being forced to lower their prices to create demand. Overall full circle and pointless endeavor.

    £11.40 + snacks and drinks = £17 just to go see a 3D movie.

Pffft they can go stuff it. Make it a fiver with a drink or popcorn included and I'd go. We used to have a cinema in our town too that closed some time ago, now it's a crappy nightclub.

Never. The key is to use private trackers. I only ever use public trackers to download something I can't find anywhere else.
