    Unable to refuse delivery

So I received a delivery in which I'd previously contacted the merchant and requested a cancellation. They informed me the item had already been shipped and if not needed all I had to do was refuse delivery and it would be returned. Well I tried this but the driver would not accept it as there was no return address. I was left with no other option than to accept the package as the driver refused to take it because there was nowhere to take it to. Is this normal? It doesn't seem right to me.

So why don't you tell the merchant why are you asking here?

already contacted them. Awaiting reply. Just thought it was quite unusual … already contacted them. Awaiting reply. Just thought it was quite unusual and wondered if anybody had encountered the same. Is there some sort of rule over what you can/can't ask?

    You dont ask

    You tell them.

problem you have here is that some drivers will just stick package to a neighbour. best thing to do is contact the merchant explain whats happened and ask them to organise a return of goods. thats what my work would do if its one of our customers

i just hope yo do not need help on here

They're correct to be honest. They can't return an item without a sender address. If bought through PayPal they have like a free returns thing running at the moment I think.

Tell the driver no and instigate a stand off and tell hin if he leaves it with a neighbour youll report hin to his company. Then pray hes not as awkward as me else youll be standing there at new year staring at each other lol

    Lol

well I can't do nothing know uve except the order u should have told them it was a mistake u didn't order anything and that person didn't live there.

Was the delivery driver Royal Mail? I can see a first or second class parcel not requiring a return address if a signature is not required. Other than that I would have thought all the other parcel delivery companies would either have the senders address in the label or a long number/alphanumeric code or barcode, which tells them at the depot about the senders address details. Could be that the driver is self employed and told by the parcel delivery company to 'avoid' delivery refusals knowing full well the senders address can be easily found back at the depot with the long number on the label

anyone can refuse any delivery with any delivering company, it may make you liable for some delivery or return charges to do that, but thats the facts.
It is of no consequence to you if the delivering company does not have a return address

If you refused delivery and the item had no return address it would eventually be destroyed surely the seller would then be out of pocket so do the right thing and return it to them. Not their fault you bought something then changed your mind
