Unable to use gift card for Currys purchase

Thanks to this forum I managed to install the App and order an Iphone paying with a preloaded gift card - so thanks for that.

How stupid are Curries? The only reason many people will be using them is for these corporate gift card discounts like me. Without that I will stick to Amazon if I cant get it cheaper!

Before seeing this forum I had to use webchat to even get a phone number for my local store to check their stock. When I got through to them the advisor almost laughed at me saying "silicon valley is shut so nobody can get iphones or any tech".

Funny how once downloaded the app it took seconds to order.....

I dont think you can buy phones with it as it states on their website: "Please note that gift cards cannot be used for online mobile purchases"

I've tried to buy a phone today with a Curry's gift card - which wasn't possible online.
I had the online call with customer services as was told that since Curry's are transitioning their phone business (as they have bought out car phone warehouse) until that is completed, you won't be able to do it online.
I went into the store on Christmas Eve with my voucher and went to the phone section, spoke to the guy working in the phone section who checked that the phone I wanted was in store / available. However when I said I wanted to use my Curry's voucher, was told I had to go to the cashier desk, who told me Curry's didn't have that phone - even though the other guy told me he had 2! Apparently, even though there is no "Carphone Warehouse" branding in store anymore, until they sell their stock, it will still be treated as two companies!

I tried yesterday to buy mobile using their gift card but option to use a gift card was not on mobile section at checkout, any other part of their site was ok, just not for mobile phones.

For a few months at least. I was going to buy a gift card for a purchase earlier this year, as I can get them reduced via Corporate Perks, but then I noticed that in the FAQ section so didnt bother. (edited)

I need to read the small print it seems

Can only purchase in store with gift card. This is a fairly recent thing only for mobile phones, everything else should be as normal (edited)

Yep, same experience. This is fairly new, I successfully bought a mobile phone with a Gift Card a year ago. VERY VERY annoyed with them as I now have to spend the money on the card before it expires, probably on something I neither need nor want! Why??? Other than to screw their customers... Never buy a Currys Gift Card!!

I don't think this works now (in iOS) - when you choose any phone it directs to the Currys website.

I was livid when I found this out - I only bought the gift card (at 7% corporate discount) to get an iPhone cheaper, then found out i couldn’t use it.

Thanks to Adam I tried using the gift card via the iOS app (rather than desktop website) and it worked. I now have a DPD dispatch confirmation. Touch wood it arrives now

I also get corporate perks so hearing they don't accept gift cards for mobile phones (I want to buy the S22 Ultra) was a bit concerning. I did an online chat with who I get my corporate perks through, and also did a webchat with currys who confirmed this can not be done online to buy mobile phones, but if you go instore they can sort for it for you there. So I go instore and they say its not the case and you can use them online. So I went to buy via the website on my phone, and what do ya know, it works..... they want make their mind up what they are doing.

Thank you so much whoever posted this. The app did accept the gift card for a mobile purchase where the website would not.

Gift cards definitely work if you download the Curry's app.

I had an issue using gift card online to purchase dishwasher and fridge freezer. I had to go into store to use them and in the meantime the price has increased so any discount I received from purchasing the vouchers was lost - I was and still am fuming
