Unjailbreak iphone and restore it back again?

I've got to bring my iphone into the shop or them to look at as the volume button has fell off and i'm hoping they will repai/replace it under the warranty.

Thing is it's jailbroken so i'll have to restore it, how do i go about restoring it to 3.0 firmware and is there a way to "back up" my jailbroken iphone so when i get it back i can put everything back on that i have now?

    any help appreciated

Simples! Plug it into iTunes. hit restore.

No sensible way to backup your jailbroken phone though..

no i don't want to restore through itunes, it will put 3.1.3 on it which can't be jaibroken at the moment

Having looked on iclarified i can possibly just restore to 3.0 and then will be able to jailbreak it again

    Hi,

You say the volume button has fallen off and so therefore they will most likely replace it, which will render your chances of jailbreaking it due to new FW and baseband until Gehotz releases his new hack

IIf you still want to put it to 3.0, then download the firmware from the internet somewhere. Go to itunes and press shift and restore and then select the 3.0 firmware restoring it as new.(Windows), if your lucky enough to own a mac hold down option and click restore

iPhone 3G and some 3gs's under a certain number in the serial number.
Also shift plus the firmware you want to restore on should work?

yeah i'm going to just put 3.0 on it for now just in case they don't replace it with a new one, that way i can jailbreak it again:thumbsup:
