    Unlocked Phone

    Hi all
Just wondering if anyone knows of any UK networks that are unlocked? My OH has subscribed to the Blyk deal and I want to get him a new moby for christmas but don't want to have to pay extra to get it unlocked if I can avoid it! Cheers.

You know, when networks lock the phones so you can't put a sim from another provider in there. I was just wondering if all networks do this? Sorry, probably not making much sense...!

What sim are you planning to put in ?

I must agree with you. :giggle:

If you are buying a PAYG phone, then these are usually locked.
If you buy from CPW, you have more chance of getting an unlocked one.

Why do you need an unlocked one, why not just buy one on the same network as he has at present? Or doesn't he have a phone?

Planning to put in the Blyke Sim (it was posted on here last month- where you get free texts/minutes in return for picture adverts)

I tried a 'Search' on Blyke, it only brings up this thread.

I just checked your previous posts, and it is the 'Blyk' sim.
Reading the thread, someone said that it is on the Orange network.

So you need a phone on the Orange network, or unlocked.

Okay, I will go for the Orange then, Cheers.

If you find a phone, it's worth checking if CPW will match the price under their 'price promise', the advantage is that they often supply unlocked phones.

If you are on Orange, this may be a blessing.

also, O2 don't lock their handsets

I understood the question OP was asking straight away, wasn't as confusing as some were making it out to be...

    02 payg = locked (from 02 stores)
    02 contract = 99% unlocked. (from 02 stores)

If buying from CPW if you ask they will tell you if its supplied unlocked for each phone from my experience which most (not all) are. This is the only reason i can justify buying from them, I had to take a phone back for repair and it took 3 months to get done! (mind you after the 2nd week I kept going in and complaining and getting a £10 voucher for a top-up each week!).
