    Unplanned O/Ds i am screwed

    Hi friends
my gf is banking with Lloyds Tsd and was not looking at her statements and we only realised when we saw the statements for December they took out about 250 quid plus interest, we requested the bank to have a look at it and the bank took more then a month they just waved off 20 quid. and we went again and this time its was about 300 quid. for just having an accidental overdraft of few quid?

man i hate it in just two months we have to pay the ******* ******* bank about 550 quid plus.

and worse is the supreme court has favoured these greedy blood sucking banks.

Sorry officer for killing that man, it wasnt my fault, it was an accident.

Ok, just dont let it happen again.

Seriously, call the bank and decide on how best to deal with it. Do you get your wages paid in to your account? If you have trouble with money then you need to get a cashpoint card only.

Also, you cannot have an accidental overdraft. It is either planned or unplanned.

im not really getting what happened here?

from what i can see its this:

    1) you overspent and was ordered to pay £250
    2) you told them to look into it and was then rewarded £20 off (assuming waved is waived which is "let go" of the £20 you had to pay them)
    3) You (overspent again and?) was ordered to pay £300

Im not sure how with overdrafts, you managed to "owe" them that much?

(btw im noob with overdrafts - i just treat them like credit cards if that is the right way to think of them)

Get a first Direct bank account... and a free overdraft facility.

Must have been more than a few quid for those charges

Check your statements watch your money avoid these things happen

To build up charges like that you must have been overdrawn for some time.
You need to keep ontop of your finances as Lloyds etc will go for the jugular with charges.

Monthly fee £15 You will pay this fee if you have an Unplanned Overdraft at any time during your monthly billing period (even if your next monthly billing period is only a few days away).
We will charge you a maximum on one monthly fee in a monthly billing period.
Daily fee Unplanned Overdraft balance is:

    less than £25 £6 a day

    £25 to £100 £15 a day

more than £100 £20 a day You will pay a daily fee for using an Unplanned Overdraft. The amount of the fee will be worked out at the end of each day (including weekends and bank holidays) on the balance of your Unplanned Overdraft.
We will charge you a maximum of 10 daily fees in a monthly billing period.

An Unplanned Overdraft continues until it is repaid. So, at the start of any monthly billing period, if you still have an Unplanned Overdraft from the previous monthly billing period, you will incur a further monthly fee and up to another 10 daily fees (depending on when you pay it back).

Unplanned Overdrafts are intended to be used for short-term borrowing. You will find it cheaper to ask for a new or increased Planned Overdraft that meets your needs, rather than using an Unplanned Overdraft. You can do this by visiting us in branch or calling us on 0845 3 000 000.

TAKEN FROM LLOYDS WEBSITE AS I AM A CUSTOMER,

EDIT: Also when i have gone over they have always sent me a letter with how much they will charge and date they will take the money, have u not had these

We had similar experience recently and Abbey were a right bunch of bankers.

The wife was off on maternity leave. Been with Abbey for over 30 years and has not once been overdrawn.
She was getting ready for xmas and popping to Tesco countless times. She has never had an overdraught and the bank didn't bother letting her know that she was over her limit. It wasn't until she tried to take some cash out from a hole in the wall and it wouldn't let her have anything that she looked into it. She had been charged on 13 seperate occasions within a week. Every time she used her card, they didn't tell her they just charged her. She was £450 overdrawn and accumulated over £500 of charges.

Needless to say all our accounts have now been changed. Savings, ISAs current accounts etc have all now been moved to another bank.
