    Unused plasma tv, keep it or sell it?

    I bought a nice 720p Professional Panasonic plasma back around May, it has never really been used though apart from when I lived in a flat for a few weeks and played Street Fighter 4 a lot.

    Since then I moved into a student house and didnt want to put it in living room and I felt that old gaming emulators didnt feel right on a Plasma and even though its thin and flat it takes up a lot of space in my bedroom.

    So I got a cheap old fashioned(but model only a few years old) CRT Sony widescreen tv.

    Picture is amazing even for avi's, only problem is no component or vga connection so have to use a convertor box which isnt perfect as has juddering and of course the tv takes up massive amounts of space in living room and has its own special glass stand.

    I have used my plasma three times since moving here, once watched a movie, once had a movie in background but wasnt paying attention as was on internet in bed, and once when I was testing out my old desktop in living room.

    The only things keeping me from selling is price as I am bound to be offered pennies and also transporting if I sold it and that it has good connections to use i.e HDMI and VGA so could just attach laptop if bored.

    How much did you pay for it? If you are anywhere near the Midlands I could be interested in taking it off your hands. I have a company with lots of vans!!
    Maybe you could rent it to a friend?

    I can remember all the hassle you had with that tv between here and avforums so with your luck I'd keep it. Oh how big is it anyway?

    How did you get on with the summer pics?

    I paid about £650 for it from someone who themselves had it for about 3 or 4 months and said it cost £1000, I did buy a dual hdmi board for it to replace the single one which cost £75.

    I am wary of selling it though due to the loss of value when you try and sell something.

    Thats why I am worried about transporting it! dont want a repeat of last time, this time though I have the foam bits for it but still wary of selling it online was thinking of advertising it locally.

    I am now using one of the Summer wallpapers on my laptop.

    good man:thumbsup:

    why don't you try gumtree or some other type of local ad. it'll save you the hassle of delivery and as thesaint has aready pointed out any confusion over your listing.

    Exactly what I was thinking, 'unused' and 'not currently in use' have very different meanings.

    John

    Seriousley who gives a **** if he said used or unused since he is only asking if people think he should sell it or keep it.
    Gumtree local papers or even asking around friends to see if any1's interested would probable be your best bet.

    I'd remove the 'professional' part as it obviously isnt.

    whats the model number?

    He asked if he should sell or keep it, and gave the reason why.
    The reason why is incorrect.

    Get it?

    After seeing how you handled yourself in the avforums incident I personally would not sell anything ever again.

    these half stories are why you end up in a mess, your opening post suggests you purchased in may and only been used a few times, when infact you purchased it second hand in may from someone who obviously used it, i also remember the last tv fiasco you sold

    I think you answered your own question. You need to sell local or collection only. Gumtree/local press/shop advertising is your best route.

    Get rid of it now is my advice. You're not using it, it's only going to depreciate even further. Get rid of that daft idea that you don't want to lose too much, you'll lose even more hanging on to it. I think most people here can tell you stories about lofts full of items they couldn't part with for the reasons you describe, only to end up junking them.

    If you had read his previous thread about a tv he sold you would know why thesaint had picked up on it

    Because he sold a TV a few months back as 'unused' and the seller wasn't happy with the poor condition of the TV then found through the service menu that the TV had been used extensively. After long threads on both AVF and here eventually Liddle 'ol me bailed out Ryouga and everyone was sort of happy, at the same time the thread starter had also sold a PC in 'brand new' condition which most definitely was not. Hence the reaction by some people here seeing all the same warning signs again.

    John

    Perhaps the OP should avail himself of a dictionary, mine states;

    Unused = Not Used.

    This item clearly has been used.
