unusual request...

Looking to buy a baby gate, problem is that the banister post on the stairs is circular. Wondering if anyone knows of a baby gate that would attach to this? The usual type wouldn't work as they require a flat surface

Would something like this work. This extends, so you could attach it to a flat surface. We have one and they are very good.

Forgot to say, these are pricey but you can find them cheaper!

Heres one that says that it is able to fit on any surface. same sort of thing as above but is about £10 cheaper.

if you have a jigsaw you could fashion something from a block of wood. just cut a half moon out of one side of a piece of wood, put that against bannister and stair gate against that. its what i would do.

Boots would probably be cheaper than above as they charge £6 delivery. With Boots, you can get 500 points plus 3.5% quidgo. i am sure Kiddicare do it too!

Is for my aunty, she wont have the baby around tooooo much, so wouldn't want to do anything permanent. That would be a really good idea, but no way of doing it (dont know anyone with a jigsaw....other than the baby and I dont think thats what you mean :giggle:)

Bit confused about the products shown, do they only have to be fixed to one wall???

Bumping this thread up

Doesn`t matter if it is circular. The post to attach have screw holes therefore can attach via screws to any surface, either directly for example to the wooden rail or by rawlplug for plasterboard or brick.
Shape of object makes no difference

isn't going to be permanent, just for when her granddaughter visits, so don't really want to screw it in

They work a bit like a sideways roller blind!!! Attach the roller to one side ie wall, door frame etc, The end of blind has 2 hooks, there are several attachments for these to hook on to, . It pulls across and at a press of a button it rolls back nice and tidily. It also takes the weight of 100kg so it is very save!

thanks for the info, so do you think the attachments would work on a circular post?

Have a look at this link, there is a demo of how it works and also on extra images, it will show the attachments. You could also contact them on their live web chat to see if it is suitable for spiral staircases!

I hope this helps!
