Anything could be wrong with it...........and you won't know unless you can start the engine.

I'd be a tad concerned myself.
is it blue / purple ?
Wouldn't touch it with a bargpole unless he/she finds key.
car is black, valued at 1500 on every site i look at and been offered it for £200
so i am prepared to take a gamble - thanks.

Worth the risk on £200 if there wasn't anything wrong with he would of gone to ford and priced a key up if that was the case to make a profit.
it could cost hundreds as new door, boot and ignition locks if key number is unknown. Then theres the fact it may have a blown engine / gearbox etc etc

Why else do you think someone is selling a car worth £1500 for £200 lol

And if there was..........you'd end up down £200 and a possible criminal record.

I know what i prefer. :w00t:
a ford dealer can get you a key based on the logbook but it will cost you a lot. ford wanted £60 from me to provide a new key and code it, and thats was when i had the other keys needed to code it. i ended up getting one cut and coding it myself for less than a tenner. but you'll need ford to provide you with both the pattern number to cut the key and the ignition code to code the chip. best bet is to phone your dealer and ask for a quote.
What year is the car? as the keys need to be coded to the ECU and if you dont have the Orange spare key you may need a new ECU which will set you back more than the car is worth.
you can all keep this thread, and in a few days i will show you a picture of me in the car.
£200 for the car
£165 for the new keys and coding from my ford dealer.

so you are going to spend £200 on a car and £165 on a key from Ford. Total = £365
And you don't know if the car even starts. Perhaps give him the £200 then hot wire the car to make sure its ok before spending the £165 on some keys, if its a pile of crap, scrap it and lose £50.

But if the said car is worth £1500 and it is no good, you still have over a grand to play with to sort it.... Go for it.
ha ha ha
maybe greed has got the better of me, but its worth a punt for £200

I asked if anyone knew the cost of the keys, didnt ask for advice on weather i should do it or not.

thanks for your help

Poor attitude, sorry but Syzables right, risking a lot for the sake of a motor, and you could end up with the motor siezed, have you even ran the plates through the sites available to see if its been nicked along with the documents (glove box)?

interesting

I have the full owner history here, and have a check on the finance and there is nothing showing.
whilst i appreciate we are a nation of cautious people. I am not.

It seems worth a punt. It costs me £365 for the car.
I can scrap it, sell the alloys seperate and possibly lose £100 at most.

Why don't you do this. Tell him you want to buy the car, put it in writting on the grounds that he supplies the keys from the dealer and you will pay him the money for the keys. Bet he says no.:whistling:
good luck u need it
not sure why you are seeking "advice" here cos you've seemingly already made your mind up on what you're gonna do despite pretty much everyone telling you it's a bad idea.

lmfao just me that found this funny? :giggle:
Each to their own I suppose, good luck, looking forward to seeing the piccies tho.
good luck
btw you can't simply hotwire a ford because of the PATS system. there's obviously ways around it but not a simple hotwire
