    Upgrade from my Saab droptop?

    Hi,

I'm possibly looking to upgrade my car to something a bit more modern, and would appreciate the advice of any petrol heads on here!

I currently drive a 1997 Saab 900 convertible (2.0 petrol, leather interior etc.) and would like to keep the 4 seater cabrio idea if at all possible, whilst upgrading to something with a few less years under it's belt.

Budget would be about £6k, plus whatever I can get for my current car (either as a private sale, or px).

Quite happy to lose a bit of power, so long as it's reflected in tax/insurance - or keep the silly insurance bill so long as it's accompanied by the power that I'm now used to.

    What do you reckon?

    Cheers

Thanks for the suggestions, mind me asking why you would recommend those in particular?

Not a massive fan of the renault to be honest, but have just had a quick look at the Volvo and it does look like a nice motor - will have to look into it a bit more!

People wouldn't seriously buy a Renault would they?

Could always get the 2.0 T or 2.0 dci for the Megane to improve that.

Well the Volvo is the one I went for especially the later models with the solid roof. It provided all the room I needed plus the security and safety that I felt was important for my Motorway miles. Good car all round really and quite stylish as well

Bit out the the OP's budget though The 'old' C70 is very dated, especially the interior.

A4 was always the benchmark for that size cabriolets, not sure if it has changed? I like the C70, especially the latest version, just like with all Volvos, I can't stomach the price regardless of what I can afford.

I would very much like the A4, but that is our of my range unfortunately.

The C70 does push it, but it seems to be towards the top of my "test drive" list so far...

Yes I know about the price especially for spares! Just had a look on Autotrader and a 51 plate Volvo c70 with 30,000 on the plate is about £6500 not to bad

Yes again i agree with you but if you want a convertible you have to put up with the wobble and less than dynamic drive:roll:
