    upgrade or new contract?

im pretty lame at phones. i want a cheapy contract with at least 200 mins and 200 txts. ive been with 02 via carphone warehouse a while and upgraded last time to a viewty with them. im now on last month and they keep calling me to upgrade to a 24month contract.

thing is i have no idea what i want to get etc but im thinking will i get a better deal with a brand new contract then an upgrade? so should i just cancel them and go a-shopping?

and im not bothered about phone numbers. im not that important!!

If you're happy with your phone you can consider the sim only deal as they give out lots of minutes and texts and it's only a 30 day contract. Worth doing until you decide what phone you want.

thanks but i think im bored! want a shiny new toy (if only for my kids to destroy!)

How good an upgrade will depend on how much you pay per month for your contract and how much you spend over and above that. If not very much, you probably won't get a decent upgrade and will be better off getting a new contract.

That said, can't hurt to ring o2 and ask....

    ahh!! thanks for that.

just got off phone to carphone warehouse who do my upgrades but i had NO CLUE about any phones so was pointless!! gotta see some first

My mum has a contract for about the mins/txts your after, she (i!!!) lol) found the best tariff for the lower contracts were virgin mobile, she has 300 texts and 200 mins for £7.50 a month, also gets offered reasonable upgrades, although she hasnt upgraded recently and Im not sure of the model of her phone, some kind of samsung I think, a pinky/purpley colour, although when sony ericcson were big she had 2 of the walkman phones.
Anyways, point being, might be worth a look for you

I personally find going to the indevidual companies (orange/vodafone/O2) gives you a better offer than going to phones4u/carphone warehouse etc...they seem to have more chances to offer free extras

i use this site to get reviews on phones that may be intrested in mobile-phones-uk.org.uk/

dont take the upgrade, call o2 and go through cancellations. you will be able to haggle the phone and the contract amount aswell.its where all the good deals are!
