    Upgrading PC

I know this deal hotukdeals.com/ite…nit was slated a bit, but I currently have a 2.6gig single core Tiny PC with 450MB or RAM. I'm not looking to spend much if I can avoid it. The possible alternative I have found to the above deal is a Dell Dual Core 2.8ghz with 3MB of Ram for the same price

I'm looking to upgrade to speed up the applications I do use:

AVS programmes for video and audio editing
Wireless streaming of video and audio to PS3 (if possible HD video)
    Internet Downloads

Which one would be best or are they both a load of rubbish?

mate i would buy an asus or similar barebones then stick a decent dual core cpu, pcie gfx card and some cheap ram in it from ebuyer.com with a barebones there is very little assembly required and is pretty simple its the only way to get real value for money from a pc build.

Thanks, so with those two links and some ram (3GB enough?) then that would be all I need? Actually I'm guess I'll need an operating system too, but is that it then?

nope fraid you will need a hdd as well and yes an os and poss an optical drive, you prob won't even build one with those for less than the acer if cost is a big issue

Ahah thanks for that, do you think either of those PC's (the Dell or the Acer in my original post) will do the jobs I need them to and if so which out of those two would you have thought would be best? I'm really not comfortable build if I'm honest so wanted a ready made one ideally. If it comes with a monitor then upto £500 or if not about £300 mark

Well serving up files and internet downloads won't be improved by a new PC, you need a better internet connection and network to improve those.

Audio and video editing should be speeded up by a faster CPU though, you're better off asking on some forums with other uses of your particular software which of the two is best though since it depends what the software supports.

Thanks everyone, this is such a minefield. It's difficult to know what to do for the best sometimes. PC's have got to be one of the hardest purchases to make....!

It is important to maintain some perspective, any standard desktop will do what you're asking and you're just looking around to decide which will give you a slightly advantage over the other solutions or last a bit longer.
